Ballroom DanceSport Extravaganza to Return to Westchester Broadway Theatre, 6/25

The highly popular Ballroom DanceSport Extravaganza show will return to the Westchester Broadway Theatre for one performance Tuesday evening, June 25. The show, that highlights almost every phase of ballroom dancing in showcase presentations in two 50-minutes acts, continues to perform to sold-out audiences as it tours the United States. The current show features one of the world's greatest Argentine Tango couples as well as five renown World and American champions. (more...)

NYMF Announces Additional Concerts, Talkbacks & Workshops; Tickets Now On Sale

Completing the programming for the 10th annual New York Musical Theatre Festival, NYMF announced several additional concerts, a series of educational workshops, and a "Musicals on Television" screening series in partnership with the Paley Center for Media. This year's Festival will begin July 8th and continue through July 28th. Single tickets are currently on sale. (more...)

2013 Helpmann Award Nominations to Be Announced in Six Cities, June 24

Live Performance Australia (LPA) have confirmed that the nominations for the 2013 Helpmann Awards will be announced simultaneously at events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Perth. This is the first time the Nominations events are being held in 6 different cities and a first for Adelaide, Hobart and Perth. (more...)

Lyric Opera of Chicago in the Black for Its 2012-13 Season

Anthony Freud, general director of Lyric Opera of Chicago, announced yesterday that the company is projecting a breakeven operating performance for fiscal year 2013. Lyric has operated in the black for 25 of the past 26 years-a record among the country's major not-for-profit music and performing-arts companies. (more...)

The new stage musical KING KONG just opened last weekend at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, Australia. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the show is already casting its eye towards Broadway, with a hopeful launch as early as 2014. Eddie Perfect Responds to KING KONG Musical's Critics

In response to Woodhead's comments, Australian theatre star Eddie Perfect took to Facebook, saying: 'I agree with Cameron [Woodhead], and I'd add something further. There's a convenient narrative springing up online (and elsewhere) that the creator's of Kong spent five years of developmental resources on the gorilla but neglected the book, music and lyrics.
