ALL SHOOK UP

The Rock ‘n Roll Broadway Musical

Featuring Elvis’ Biggest Hits

September 24 – December 7, 2008

The exhilarating Broadway musical ALL SHOOK UP, featuring the songs of the legendary Elvis Presley, previews September 24th, opens October 1st, and runs through December 7th at the Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive. Led by Chicago’s favorite Director and Choreographer Marc Robin, ALL SHOOK UP will have you dancing in your seats!

Hailed by NBC-TV as “The best rock show since Grease,” ALL SHOOK UP features an electrifying score of over 24 Elvis Presley favorites including “Jailhouse Rock,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Heartbreak Hotel”, “A Little Less Conversation,” and “Hound Dog.”  The production’s book is by Joe DiPietro, the acclaimed creator I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change and Over the River and Through the Woods.

ALL SHOOK UP, a modern Rock ‘n Roll version of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy Twelfth Night, is set in a conservative Midwestern town in the summer of 1955. Chad, a motorcycle ridin’, rovin’ roustabout pulls into town. Natalie, a mechanic at a local gas station, falls madly in love with him and hopes to hit the open road to “Follow that Dream,” but the mayor of the town believes he’s the "Devil in Disguise,” and looks to put a stop to his rock ‘n roll. Audiences of all ages just “Can't Help Falling in Love” with this hot-rod musical which took Broadway by storm.  A feel-good story of how a soulful young roustabout helps a whole town find love and discover the magic of rock ‘n roll, ALL SHOOK UP is a thrilling new musical extravaganza.

ALL SHOOK UP stars returning favorite Tyler Hanes as the rovin’ roustabout Chad. Hanes had audiences and critics alike cheering in the Marriott’s 2005 production of FOOTLOOSE.  Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune proclaimed, “To call Hanes a triple-threat doesn’t even begin to evoke his chops or his charm – this handsome kid can act, sing and turn the teenage girls in the front row to jelly.”  Opposite Hanes is Chicago’s newest star, Jessie Mueller as Natalie.

ALL SHOOK UP also stars Melody Betts as Sylvia, Don Forston as Sheriff Earl, Chasten Harmon as Lorraine, Ross Lehman as Jim, Dennis Moench as Dennis, Matt Raftery as Dean Hyde, Paula Scrofano as Mayor Matilda Hyde, and Christine Sherrill as Miss Sandra. The ensemble features Angela Brydon, Nicky Cooper, Nina Fluke, Brandon Koller, Ericka Mac, David Morrison, Ano Okera, Max Quinlan, Jay Reynolds Jr., Jason Shuffler, Cessalee Smith-Stoval, and Jody Cole Wood.

The artistic team for ALL SHOOK UP is led by director and choreographer Marc Robin with Musical Direction by Ryan Nelson, Set Design by Tom Ryan, Costume Design by Nancy Missimi, Lighting Design by Diane Ferry Williams, Sound Design by Cecil Averett and Properties Design is by Greg Isaac. Patti Garwood conducts the Marriott Theatre orchestra.

The performance schedule for ALL SHOOK UP is Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. With the purchase of a $55 ticket on Wednesdays and Thursdays, dinner in either Kings Wharf or Fairfield Inn restaurants is included. 'Men of Tortuga' Opens Profiles Theatre Season Oct 9th

Profiles Theatre opens 20th Anniversary Season
with the acclaimed comedy-drama
Men of Tortuga by Jason Wells

The Profiles production marks the first time
this play has been produced in the Midwest
since its premiere at Steppenwolf’s First Look Series

Profiles Theatre opens its 20th Anniversary Season with the acclaimed comedy-drama Men of Tortuga by Jason Wells, directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member Rick Snyder. The production runs October 9-December 7, 2008, at Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway. Men of Tortuga will play for a limited engagement at Profiles through December 7, 2008 only and will not extend. The press opening is Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 8:00 p.m.

In an undisclosed location, three men scheme with a weapons specialist to eliminate the opposition in Jason Wells' dark comedy of negotiation, conspiracy and assassination. Tom Avery, Jeff Kling and Kit Maxwell are three power-brokers who will stop at nothing to wreck an historic meeting with an elite political enemy. But when Maxwell takes a young idealist under his wing, his long-dormant conscience begins to reawaken. The cabal is forced to concoct even more outlandish scenarios of annihilation and ponder whether their ends justify their means.

The Profiles production marks the first time this play has been produced in the Midwest since its premiere production as part of Steppenwolf’s First Look Series. Men of Tortuga was developed through the New Plays Initiative by Steppenwolf Theatre and was presented as part of the First Look Repertory of New Work in 2005. The show received rave reviews, enjoyed a popular run and was eventually nominated for the Steinberg New Play Award in November 2005. The play then received its World Premiere production in November 2006 at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Florida. Mr. Well’s newest play, Perfect Mendacity, was recently produced as part of Steppenwolf’s First Look Repertory and was directed by David Cromer.

This is the first production of Profiles Theatre’s 20th Anniversary Season. The next production will be the Midwest premiere of The Thugs by Adam Bock, which begins previews on October 25, 2008.  The Thugs will play in repertory with Men of Tortuga.

“We’re very excited to open our 20th Anniversary Season with these two productions,” says Profiles Artistic Director Joe Jahraus.  “Both plays take a unique look at the people behind the scenes in the world of business, with Men of Tortuga giving us a portrait of the ruthless leaders who pull the strings and seek to destroy all who oppose them.  Meanwhile The Thugs explores the lowly temps at a law firm who have lost their direction in life making gossip and rumor turn into paranoia and fear.  These playwrights approach their subjects with their own distinct voice making them very unique experiences for the audience.  Yet they will play together in rep beautifully.”

Profiles 20th Anniversary Season also includes the Midwest premiere of Great Falls by Lee Blessing, the U.S. premiere of The Wonderful World of Dissocia by Anthony Neilson and the World premiere of Graceland by Ellen Fairey.
The cast of Men of Tortuga features Profiles’ Associate Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox as Taggert, the role he originated in Steppenwolf’s production.  Profiles’ ensemble member Eric Burgher appears as Allan Fletcher.  Also featured are Tom Lally, Jack McCabe and Fred Wellisch.

The designers include Grant Sabin (set) and Profiles’ ensemble member Eric Burgher (sound).  The assistant director is Brittany M. Lee and the stage manager is Maryann Carlson.

As BoHo enters their fifth season, the essence of playwright Federico Garcia Lorca is explored  once again.  The BoHo production of Yerma received critical acclaim for its adaptation which captured the heart and spirit of the main character.  The same is true for the BoHo production of LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba - a musical.  The drama of Lorca's original play (The House of Bernarda Alba) and the hauntingly beautiful score by Michael John LaChiusa combine to bring the story and characters to life in BoHo's wonderfully intimate space.  Bernarda Alba – a musical embraces the goals and vision of BoHo through its blend of music, movement, and drama in what is sure to be another mesmerizing, exhilarating production.

Irish Rep To Present McGuiness's 'Master Builder'

The Irish Repertory Theatre will open its 2008-2009 season with the world premiere of Tony Award winning playwright Frank McGuinness’s adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s THE MASTER BUILDER. McGuinness’ adaptation was commissioned by the Irish Rep and will be directed by Ciaran O’Reilly. Performances begin Friday, October 10, 2008.  The production will have its official opening on Sunday, October 19, 2008 and run through November 30, 2008.

Past adaptations of Ibsen’s work by Mr. McGuinness have received world renowned acclaim including a Tony Award for best revival in 1997 for A Doll’s House.

THE MASTER BUILDER (1892): Halvard Solness, a successful architect and builder in a small Norwegian town has mercilessly dominated his employees and his wife, Aline. Hilde Wangel, a vivacious young woman arrives unannounced.  Hilde has idolized Solness for ten years, since in the early stages of his career, he built a large church in her hometown and heroically climbed to the top of the tower to celebrate its dedication.   The architect’s presence had a profound effect on the young girl of twelve when he promised to return and, ”build her a kingdom.” Today, the ten years are up and Hilde has come to reap what he has sown.

Frank McGuinness was born in Buncrana, Co. Donegal, and now lives in Dublin and lectures in English at University College, Dublin. His plays include: The Factory Girls (Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 1982 and Arcola Theatre, London, January 2006), Baglady (Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 1985), Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme (Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 1985; Hampstead Theatre, London, 1986), Innocence (Gate Theatre, Dublin, 1986), Carthaginians (Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 1988; Hampstead Theatre, London, 1989), Mary and Lizzie (RSC, 1989), The Bread Man (Gate Theatre, Dublin, 1991), Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me (Hampstead, West End and Broadway, 1992, West End 2005), The Bird Sanctuary (Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 1992), Mutabilitie (RNT, 1997), Dolly West’s Kitchen (Abbey, 1999; Old Vic, 2000) and  Gates of Gold (The Gate Theatre, Dublin, 2002, Finborough Theatre, London, 2004). His translations include Ibsen’s Rosmersholm (RNT, 1987), Lorca’s Yerma (Abbey, 1987), Peer Gynt (Gate, 1988; RSC and international tour, 1994; RNT, 2000), Chekhov’s Three Sisters (Gate and Royal Court, 1990), Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera (Gate, 1991), Hedda Gabler (Roundabout Theatre, Broadway, 1994), Uncle Vanya (Field Day Production, 1995), A Doll’s House (Playhouse Theatre, Broadway, 1997), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (RNT, 1997), Sophocles’ Electra (Chichester, Donmar Warehouse, Broadway, 1998), Ovstrovsky’s The Storm (Almeida Theatre, London, 1998), Miss Julie (West End, 2000), Euripides’ Hecuba (Donmar Warehouse, 2004), his adaptation of Du Maurier’s Rebecca (David Pugh Productions, national tour, 2005) and his version of Phaedra (Donmar Warehouse, 2006). Frank’s latest play There Came a Gypsy Riding was produced by the Almeida Theatre in 2007.

Henrik Ibsen was born in Skien, Norway, to wealthy parents, who lost their money while he was a young boy. His early experiences with small-town life and genteel poverty sensitized him to the problems that he subsequently dramatized in a number of his plays. At age sixteen he was apprenticed to a druggist; he later thought about studying medicine, but by his early twenties he was earning a living writing and directing plays in various Norwegian cities. By the time of his death he enjoyed an international reputation for his treatment of social issues related to middle-class life. Ibsen’s earliest dramatic works were historical and romantic plays, some in verse. His first truly realistic work was The Pillars of Society (1877), whose title ironically hints at the corruption and hypocrisy exposed in it. The realistic social-problem plays for which he is best known followed. These dramas at once fascinated and shocked international audiences. Among his most produced and admired works are A Doll House (1879), Ghosts (1881), An Enemy of the People (1882), The Wild Duck (1884), Hedda Gabler (1890), and The Master Builder (1892).

Ciarán O’Reilly (Producing Director) most recently directed Prisoner of the Crown, Sive, Defender of the Faith, The Hairy Ape (Drama Desk Nom.), The Field, Philadelphia, Here I Come! (Drama Desk Nom.), and The Irish Rep original, The Bells of Christmas.  He also directed The Nightingale and Not The Lark and The Invisible Man by Jennifer Johnston. He was recently seen in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Touch of A Poet with Gabriel Byrne.  Previous to that, he appeared at The Westport Country Playhouse in Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuiness.  He has appeared at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and made his Broadway debut in The Corn is Green.  His many Off-Broadway roles include: two productions of The Shadow of a Gunman; Brendan Behan’s The Hostage; Hugh Leonard’s Da, Summer and The Au Pair Man; Brian Friel’s Philadelphia, Here I Come!; J.M. Synge’s The Playboy of the Western World; Harold Prince’s Grandchild of Kings; Geraldine Aron’s Same Old Moon; Tom Murphy’s A Whistle in the Dark; Dion Boucicault’s The Shaughraun; John Murphy’s The Country Boy; and Frank McCourt’s The Irish...and How They Got That Way.  He appeared in The Devil’s Own (starring Harrison Ford), “Law & Order” (NBC), “The Irish...and How They Got That Way” (public television), and “Third Watch” (NBC).  He founded The Irish Repertory Theatre with Charlotte Moore, has appeared in many of their productions, and has produced all of them.  He has been honored by Irish America Magazine with the Irish America Top 100 Irish Award.

Performance schedule, cast, and additional information/credits will follow in the coming weeks.

 Raúl Midón

Saturday, October 11 at 2:30 PM

Singer-composer-guitarist Raúl Midón, is a rising star discovered at Joe's Pub in 2003. The New Mexico-born, New York-based Midón plays a remarkable mélange of soul, R&B, pop, folk, jazz and Latin music, highlighting earnest, lyrical songwriting; full-bodied vocals steeped in soul; a singular, syncopated, flamenco- and jazz-infused acoustic guitar style; a unique vocal trumpet improvisation; and a hopeful disposition. While you can hear traces of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano, and Richie Havens in his music, Midón is an extraordinary original whose passion is expressed in his indelible songs.

Joe's Pub History: Since 2002, Joe's Pub has had the honor of presenting virtuoso singer/songwriter-guitarist Raul Midón numerous times. Midón was discovered at Joe's Pub where he's made a home singing his mélange of Flamenco-Pop-Jazz both solo and alongside Pub family members, including a show with fellow 10 for the 10th performer Imani Uzuri in 2005.

Jill Sobule with special guest TBD

Saturday, October 11 at 6:00 PM

A remarkable songwriter, Jill Sobule sings smart, funny and poignant pop songs that transcend being witty and clever to strike deep emotional chords, set to irresistible, well-crafted melodies.  Her insightful songwriting and strong guitar work have made her a favorite among musicians like Lloyd Cole (with whom she played in The Negatives), Don Henley, Warren Zevon and others.  Sobule is best known for the 1995 single "I Kissed a Girl", and "Supermodel" from the soundtrack of the 1995 film Clueless.

Joe's Pub History: Beloved singer-songwriter Jill Sobule first played at Joe's Pub in January 2003.  Since then, she has graced the Pub stage many times and played the 2007 installment of Joe's Pub in the Park at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

Imani Uzuri Presents Mosaic

with special guests

Saturday, October 11 at 9:30 PM

Imani Uzuri, eclectic and dynamic, is often compared to artists like Grace Jones and Nina Simone as one who defies category. Featured at numerous international venues, this bohemian spirit "... never fails to mesmerize audiences with her narcotic blend of...ethereal sounds." (Time Out New York). Uzuri has collaborated and recorded with the likes of Herbie Hancock, John Legend, 4-Hero, Talib Kweli, King Britt, and Sly and Robbie.

Joe's Pub History: Imani Uzuri first joined the Joe's Pub family in May 2000, presenting her uniquely ambient sound combining electronica, string-rock, jazz and soul.  This includes a performance alongside fellow 10 for the 10th artist Raul Midon in 2005 and a premier of her CD Her Holy Water: A Black Girl's Rock Opera in 2006.

The Budos Band

LATE NIGHT PERFORMANCE on Sunday, October 12 at 12:30 AM

The Budos Band returns to Joe's Pub, with its twenty-two legs, three horns, and hallucinogenic venom, the un-heralded emperors of Instrumental Staten Island Afro-Soul, continue to rule. The band commands their listeners to follow them on their second journey into the depths of their poisonous vision. While their debut album was itself heralded as a groundbreaking exploration of funk, afro-beat and soul music, few could predict that their second effort would not only match but surpass the realm of mind-expansion embodied on their first sessions.

Joe's Pub History: The Budos Band made their unforgettable debut on the Joe's Pub stage in August 2007 with the boisterous release of their CD Budos Band II.  The Budos Band also includes members of Antibalas who have graced the Joe's Pub stage many times and performed at the 2005 edition of globalFEST.

Allen Toussaint

Sunday, October 12 at 11:00 AM

Allen Toussaint, one of America's greatest musical treasures, returns for his now-famous New Orleans brunch series. Singer, pianist, songwriter, arranger and producer — the New Orleans native and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has been making hit records for over forty years. His massive influence on American music reaches deep into the idioms of rhythm and blues, pop, country, musical theater, blues and jazz. In 1996, he co-founded NYNO Records with Joshua Feigenbaum, devoted to presenting the indigenous music of New Orleans, and released his first solo album in 17 years, Connected. In New Orleans, Toussaint is revered for his distinguished record in public service, consistently devoting his talents to a variety of community and charity programs.

Joe's Pub History: Since beginning his relationship with Joe's Pub with a series of 5 concerts to benefit post-Katrina New Orleans between 2005 and 2006, Allen Toussaint has made our stage his home in New York City, and became and remained an integral, long-standing family member of the Pub. Included in his appearances on the Joe's Pub stage was his remarkable performance in the 2007 Joe's Pub in the Park series; and his intimate solo brunch-matinees have become a Joe's Pub staple.

Reggie Watts with SPECIAL GUESTS

Sunday, October 12 at 6:00 PM

No man on Earth is like Reggie Watts. He is a tornado on a stage, hypnotizing his audiences with improvised music and absurd comedy. Like a dream, there is no ground to stand on. You cannot guess his next step, yet every moment is euphoric while you are in it. Reggie is classically trained pianist and jazz singer, and one of six Americans in possession of full vocal range (ten octaves of tone plus 300 distinct vocal styles).

Joe's Pub History: Reggie Watts' comedy-meets-R&B extravaganzas became a special spotlight at Joe's Pub back in 2005, when he played a double-bill with chanteuse Sonya Kitchell. Watt's vocal-acrobatics and musical-tangents have gone on to mystify Pub audiences as part of the recurrent Sxip's Hour of Charm series as well as a recent residency in spring of 2008.

The Stew Songbook

featuring Penny Arcade, John Cameron Mitchell and more!

Sunday, October 12 at 9:30 PM

After six months on Broadway with Passing Strange, Stew is tired of hearing himself sing (and Heidi is just tired of Stew, period).  But they're not tired of their wonderfully talented friends, whom they've invited tonight to sing their songs on this very special evening. Come witness a palette-cleansing collaboration featuring some of New York's grooviest luminaries from downtown to uptown and beyond.

Joe's Pub History: Stew carved his place into the Joe's Pub heart back in 2003 with his band The Negro Problem, and has mixed up musical genres with his poetic, hook-filled "Afro-Baroque" since then. Stew's relationship with the theatrical world continued to form and thrive at Joe's Pub, where he and band-mate Heidi Rodewald would go on to present their initial ideas and the first workshops of the future Public Theater production Passing Strange which went on to Broadway.

BE IN: A Night of Music & Love

with members of the Public Theater's Cast of HAIR

LATE NIGHT PERFORMANCE on Monday, October 13 12:30 AM

Members of the cast of The Public Theater's production of Hair are holding a Be-In!

Come celebrate with the Tribe as they sing songs of peace, love, and freedom in a night that will leave you inspired to "Let Love Rule". An evening of surprise guests and great music will surely be the perfect soundtrack for your very own "Summer of Love".

Joe's Pub History: The Public Theater's revival of Hair began in the summer of 2007 when it was presented as a concert-version interwoven with the musical events of Joe's Pub in the Park at the Delacorte Theater. Hair then became part of the Public Theater's 2008 Summer Season in the Park, and since then, the cast has made Joe's Pub the home of their reincarnation of the "Be-In" – a core part of the hippie life that Hair captures so perfectly. Two-times presented to a sold-out house, their Be-In has enchanted Joe's Pub audiences with its '60s songbook selections and the free-flowing vibes of beads, flowers, freedom, and happiness.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults presents 'The Glass Menagerie'

Steppenwolf for Young Adults presents
The Glass Menagerie
October 21 – November 9, 2008

Steppenwolf Theatre Company launches its Steppenwolf for Young Adults 2008-2009 Season with The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov. The production, featuring James T. Alfred, Shanésia Davis, Anthony Fleming III and Nambi E. Kelley, runs October 21 – November 9, 2008 in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted.  Tickets are available to the general public for weekend performances only, with all additional shows reserved for school groups. The press performance is Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m.

A unique production of Tennessee Williams’ classic “memory play” featuring an all African-American cast. Delicately weaving truth and imagination, The Glass Menagerie centers on the Wingfield family in Depression-era St. Louis: Tom, an aspiring poet who spends his days in a warehouse, eager to start out on his own life’s journey; his overbearing mother, Amanda who yearns for the glamour of the past and his incredibly shy sister, who dreams of a brighter future and a happiness that seems just out of reach.

“As we move into our 2008-2009 season that Steppenwolf has titled ‘the season of the imagination,’ I want to take this opportunity to re-examine the American Dream, how the next generation imagines it and their place in the creation of it,” comments Hallie Gordon, Artistic and Education Director of Steppenwolf for Young Adults.

Ensemble member Yasen Peyankov appeared in Steppenwolf’s 2007-2008 production of Superior Donuts, a world premiere play by Pulitzer Prize-winning ensemble member Tracy Letts. He is the co-founder of Chicago’s European Repertory Company and an Associate Professor and Director of Theatre Studies in the Performing Arts Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has directed at UIC, European Rep. and Rushfort in Los Angeles.

The design team includes: Martin Andrew (sets), Natasha Vuchurovich Djukich (costumes), Keith Parham (lights), and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (original music and sound).  Cassie Wolgamott is the stage manager.

About The Steppenwolf for Young Adults Programs:

Steppenwolf for Young Adults is Steppenwolf’s educational program for students, teachers and families, and is focused on making the theater accessible to the most underserved populations in Chicago.  Steppenwolf for Young Adults consists of complementary programming components that are designed to enhance education, build self-esteem and social tolerance and encourage lifelong appreciation of the arts. At the core of Steppenwolf for Young Adults are the professional, full-scale productions produced specifically for young adult audiences each season.

Productions for Students and Families
Professional productions of established plays, original adaptations of novels and new works are presented for young adults through weekday student matinees and weekend family performances.  The Residency Program provides teaching artists in the classroom before and after each production.  SYA provides teachers and students with scripts, study guides and tours of the theater.

The Young Adults Council
A small group of high school students from across Chicago devoted to exploring the collaborative possibilities between the theater and young adults.  Council members work with their peers, Steppenwolf staff and artists to create programs that speak to their interests, ideas and creative goals.  The Council participates in various workshops and discussions, sees productions and creates their own programming for young adults at Steppenwolf.

Educator Workshops
The Teacher Theater Immersion Course is designed to help teachers integrate theater arts into their core curriculum.  Our advanced Immersion 2 Course uses arts integration methods to approach a range of non-fiction works related to themes of our two productions.  The Master Teacher Workshops help teachers improve student comprehension of literature through drama, using texts related to our Steppenwolf for Young Adults productions.  All offer the opportunity to earn CPDU credits.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults is a citywide partner of the Chicago Public Schools School Partner Program.

Steppenwolf is located near all forms of public transportation and is wheelchair accessible.  Street and lot parking are available.  Assistive listening devices are available for every performance in the Upstairs or Downstairs Theatres.

Committed to the principle of ensemble performance through the collaboration of a company of actors, directors and playwrights, Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s mission is to advance the vitality and diversity of American theater by nurturing artists, encouraging repeatable creative relationships and contributing new works to the national canon.  The company, formed in 1976 by a collective of actors, is dedicated to perpetuating an ethic of mutual respect and the development of artists through on-going group work.  Steppenwolf has grown into an internationally renowned company of forty-one artists whose talents include acting, directing, playwriting, filmmaking and textual adaptation.

T. Schreiber Studio To Present 'Twelfth Night' Starting 10/9

T. SCHREIBER STUDIO is pleased to announce their production of TWELFTH NIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL, directed by Cat Parker. Performances begin Thursday, October 9th and continue through Sunday, November, 23rd.

Press are invited starting Friday, October 17th at 8 p.m.

T. Schreiber Studio's Gloria Maddox Theatre will be transformed into the mythological world of Illyria using the visual style of "steampunk," an aesthetic characterized by a feeling of Victorian era romance, coupled with a modern twist, meant to enhance the magical world of Shakespeare's timeless play, Twelfth Night, or What You Will.

This gender-bending classic of a woman in a man's world runs the gamut from laughter to tears. Enhancing the emotional rollercoaster will be the music of the whimisical indie rock band, Cloud Cult.

The production features scenic design by George Allison (IT Award Recipient for his work on T. Schreiber's Picasso at the Lapin Agile), costume design by Karen Ann Ledger, sound design by Chris Rummel and lighting design by Paul Hackenmueller. Page Clements is the dramaturge, Matt McKennon is the technical director and Liz Richards is the stage manager. Ben Paganelli will be providing video content and Arela Rivas is assistant directing.

TWELFTH NIGHT plays the following regular schedule through Sunday, November 23th:
Thursdays at 8 p.m. Fridays at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sundays at 3 p.m.

Press are invited to attend as of Friday, October 17th.

A suggested donation of $25.00 (Senior $20; General Student $22) is requested, and advance tickets can be purchased online at tschreiber.org or by calling 212-352-3101.

Tickets may also be purchased in person one hour prior to the show at The Gloria Maddox Theatre.

During that time, the band has grown from the solo project of singer/songwriter Craig Minowa to include cellist Sarah Young, violinist Shannon Frid, painters Connie Minowa and Scott West (who create paintings live at the band's performances), and recent addition bassist Shawn Neary (formerly of Tapes 'n' Tapes), and Arlen Peiffer. The All-American Classic 'Mame' at Drury Lane Oakbrook!

        Drury Lane Oakbrook

Presents
THE ALL-AMERICAN CLASSIC

MAME

Previews October 9 and opens October 16

Based on the 1955 best-selling novel by Patrick Dennis and the 1956 hit Broadway play Auntie Mame, MAME will preview October 9, open October 16 and run through December 21 at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Two of the most recognized women in Chicago theater will star in this production of the Tony Award winning musical. Jeff Award winner Barbara Robertson, who recently starred as “Madame Morrible” in the Chicago production of WICKED, will portray “Mame” through November 16.  November 19 through the end of the run will feature one of Chicago’s most beloved actors Kat Taylor in the role. Taylor has starred in the National Tours of LES MISERABLES as “Fantine” and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.  Artistic Director William Osetek will direct.

MAME tells the hilarious story of an eccentric socialite who finds her chaotic Manhattan lifestyle turned upside down when she is appointed guardian of her orphaned nephew. Auntie Mame takes him on one whirlwind adventure after another, proving that "life is a banquet."  The irresistible score by Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly!, La Cage aux Folles) includes the title song “Mame”, "If He Walked Into My Life" and "We Need A Little Christmas."

The original source material, Patrick Dennis' novel Auntie Mame, was the surprise literary sensation of 1955. Mame's madcap adventures as a free-thinking heiress spent 112 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, selling more than two million copies in five languages. Once Mame was introduced to the intrigued public, no one medium was big enough to hold her story. Mame moved triumphantly from page to stage to screen, then, in musical form, back to stage and again to screen.

In 1956, Rosalind Russell brought Mame to life on stage in the Broadway play. The stage musical MAME opened in 1966 to great acclaim, giving star Angela Lansbury (who won a Tony for the role) a new career as a Broadway diva. In 1969, MAME premiered in the West End on the Theatre Royale stage at the Drury Lane Theatre and in 1974, Lucille Ball took on the role in a movie musical version of the classic story.

An all-star Chicago cast will star in the roles of many memorable characters that have touched the hearts of audiences everywhere including Alene Robertson, Jeff Kuhl, Kelly Cronin, Marilynn Bogetich, David Kortemeier, Tammy Mader, FrEd Stone, Ryan Reilly, Joey Stone, Anne Acker, Max Chung, Kelly Clark, Jastine Dumlao, Michael Ehlers, Michael Glazer, Kent Haina, Karl Hamilton, Galen Murphy-Hoffman, Danielle Plisz, Jacqueline Ritz, Mary Robin Roth, Derek Rippe and Liam Byrnes will star as “Patrick”.

The Critically Acclaimed 'Disturbed' is Back for Halloween

Oracle Continues the Horrific Tradition
The Critically Acclaimed Disturbed series is Back for Halloween

This October, Oracle Productions submits their third installment of horrifying Halloween entertainment. Opening
October 10th, the warped minds of Oracle’s artistic collective are at it again with Disturbed III, a 15-minute theatre-of-horror series that is becoming a Halloween staple among Chicago thrill-seekers. Further expanding on the model of an inverted haunted house, Oracle’s intimate space requires the audience to stay stationary, while the action pops out of every unexpected corner in a twisted, confined environment. This year, Oracle unabashedly closes the gap between imagination and realism in the gallery of a brainsick artist who has turned human anatomy into a medium of gruesome, surgical sculpture.

Professional acting, complex multimedia sequences, dramatic narrative, and explicit themes set Disturbed III apart from traditional Halloween entertainment. Performances run every 30 minutes, 8PM to 11:30PM October
10-11, 16-19, 23-26, 28-11/01 at Oracle Theatre, 3809 N. Broadway. Tickets are $9. Visit www.oracletheatre.org for schedules and online ticket sales; phone and voicemail reservations are not accepted for this event.

Time Out Chicago called the original Disturbed, “crap-your-pants scary,” claiming, “…the storefront mind-fuck…makes for a wicked (Halloween) alternative.” Last year, Metromix Chicago described Disturbed II as “More Bone Chilling than any haunted spectacle.” Once again combining live action, multimedia, prosthetic make-up and special effects, Disturbed III will twist and gnarl the psyche of participants.

Series creator Brad Jayhan-Little explained, "There is a difference between startle and scare. Haunted houses just startle people. Disturbed will really scare them." In the same vein, Disturbed II, created and directed by Colby Hanik, presented a live-action styling of a gory ‘Slasher Film’ to audiences standing only five feet from the action. Inspired by the horror of Poe and the fantastical fiction of H. G. Wells, Disturbed III brings an all-new twisted plot and spectacles worthy of the Grand-Guignol that promise to leave this year’s audiences nothing less
than...DISTURBED.

WARNING: Due to explicit imagery and violent action, Disturbed III is for adults 18 and older ONLY.  More specifically, it is for participants who enjoy the once-a-year thrills of a horrifying haunted house. Performances
run every 30 minutes, 8PM to 11:30PM October 10-11, 16-19, 22-26, 28-11/01 at Oracle Theatre, 3809 N. Broadway. Tickets are $9. Visit www.oracletheatre.org for schedules and online ticket sales; phone and
voicemail reservations are not accepted for this event.  Press are invited to all performances.

Happy Halloween...
