Based on the smash-hit movie, Sister Act features a brand new score by 8 time Oscar winner Alan Menken whose credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and most recently the hit movie Enchanted.

When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place cops are sure she won't be found - a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and an uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community, but in doing so blows her cover. Soon the gang are giving chase, only to find themselves up against Deloris and the power of her new found Sister Hood.

Just posted on the Stage Entertainment web site is official word that 'Sister Act, the musical developed by Stage Entertainment in coproduction with Whoopi Goldberg, will go to Broadway in the spring of 2011. The musical opened one year ago in London and is now almost ready for an international rollout. This fall the show will premiere in Hamburg, Germany and there is interest from Japan, Korea, Canada and Australia.' (more...)

London's SISTER ACT Shutters Early on October 20, 2010

According to Whatsonstage.com, Sister Act has announced that it will shutter early on October 20 2010. The show was originally set to close in January 2011. Producers are preparing for their Broadway transfer, slated for Spring 2011, as well as a UK tour in the fall of 2011. (more...)

PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT to Open on Broadway March 6, 2011?

According to an equity casting notice, the West End hit, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, will open on Broadway at a house to be announced on March 6, 2011. According to the same notice, the production will first play the Prince of Wales Theater in Toronto, with previews beginning October 12, 2010. (more...)
