Gerald Schoenfeld, the Chairman of the Board of the Shubert Organization, perhaps the most well-known owner and operator of live-performance theaters in the U.S. died on November 25, 2008. His passing brought sadness tears to the Rilato yesterday, but with such a profound legacy behind him it wasn't long before he was paid tribute to by the theatre community and it's brightest lights. 'EQUUS' Star Richard Griffiths At Macy's Tree Lighting 11/23

Richard Griffiths, currently starring in the hit Broadway production of EQUUS, will appear at the annual Macy's Herald Square Tree Lighting this Sunday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m. on Broadway between 34th & 35th Streets. Griffiths will be reading the classic holiday poem "The Night Before Christmas." Also set to appear at the live event in Herald Square are Kermit the Frog, Grandma from the Big Apple Circus, The Mistletones, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. In addition to the display of Macy's famed Tree of Lights, their 2008 holiday windows will be unveiled. (more...)

Actress Elaine Bromka was presented with the refurbished "horse head" worn by her husband Peter Phillips in the Original 1974 Broadway production of Peter Shaffer's EQUUS. The restored headpiece - carefully executed by the current EQUUS Prop Supervisor Mike Smanko - was presented by the actors who portray the horses in the new hit production of the play at the Broadhurst Theatre before the matinee performance on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 (more...)
