2013 IN PREVIEW: Reviewers' Theatre Tips, Part Two!

We asked our UK reviewers what they're most looking forward to in 2013 theatre...here's the second in a series of their thoughts!

I would love to see a West End run of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5; it is touring the country until the end of July, so possibly a transfer then?

Us singletons (and maybe the smug marrieds) are all hoping to put the date in our diaries for the delayed opening of the Lily Allen-penned Bridget Jones The Musical.

I am looking forward to seeing what visual film director Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice) can bring to Trelawny of the Wells at the Donmar, an adaptation of a Victorian comedy starring the exciting Daniel Kaluuya (Black Mirror, Skins).

The Royal Court's programme for the first half of 2013 looks typically exciting, the standout being The Low Road, by Bruce Norris - the final play directed there by Dominic Cooke, artistic director.

I will also be watching how Elevator Repair Service can follow up Gatz in 2013 and, likewise, where will the You Me Bum Bum Train ride this year?

I'm really excited to see what other theatrical gems the newly-formed Michael Grandage Company will be bringing us at the Noël Coward Theatre in the new year. There's still time to catch the excellent Privates on Parade, and next up is Peter and Alice, a new play by John Logan, which stars Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw.

Meanwhile, there are loads of great shows at venues across the capital as part of the London International Mime Festival this January - a chance to catch something a bit different.

Looking ahead to spring and beyond, I can't wait to see A New Play by the brilliantly inventive Anthony Neilson, which opens in April at the Royal Court, and I'm looking forward to checking out The National Theatre's temporary Cottesloe Theatre too, open for one year only as the old venue gets a refurb.
