Has anyone booked their seats yet for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"?
Sorry, a lot of my posts just lately seem to be asking for advice on seating, but what are the seats like in the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane? Where is the best place to sit for the best possible view? I know that "Charlie" hasn't opened yet, but I wanted to ask people their opinion based on their past experience(s) in that theatre, as it is one I have never been to. Is it better to book seats now, or wait until the show is up and running before booking?
i find that anywhere in the center sections of any or near the middle of the side sections of the stalls, royal circle and grand circle are all pretty perfect. i have never had a bad seat in the drury lane and i have seen witches, anything goes lotr and shrek in the drury lane never once had a bad seat for any of them. :)
Until the show's up and running it can be quite difficult to tell exactly where "good" seats will be.
However, the best seats are pretty much the same in any theatre you will ever attend - front row of the dress circle and somewhere in the middle of the stalls. They will be the most expensive seats and quite frequently won't be on sale to the general public until the very last minute.
An invaluable resource for what the view is like in any theatre in London is theatremonkey.com (I have no affiliation with them!). They give a lot of detail on what the view is like from pretty much every seat in the house thanks to visitor testimony.
