The box office will open Oct. 15 for the previously announced West End world premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a new stage version of Roald Dahl's story of the same name. Opening night has also been set for June 25, following previews that will begin May 18, at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Douglas Hodge, who won a Tony Award for Leading Actor in a Musical for his starring role in La Cage Aux Folles and is currently starring on Broadway in the title role of Cyrano de Bergerac, will return to London to star as Willy Wonka. He follows in the footsteps of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, who have played the role of the sweet-maker in the two film versions of the novel.
