This has been in the planning for a while, wonder if it'll debut in the West End first or debut in Chichester then transfer at a later date.

Chichester season is almost complete with Barnum expected to be "the musical" however it could do a Sweeney Todd and open October and then transfer in 2014. The Pajama Game is also rumoured to be downsized and staged at the Minerva next year. Baenum isnt a done deal yet as they are still searching for a star after Douglas Hudge dodged it and Michael Ball isnt sure on availability, Cameron as tried to convince Hugh Jackman to do it but he is too booked up with films...

It think Gypsy should do its original plan and open at The National. Sweeney Todd did well in London but it was aided with the legions of Michael Ball fans, but th show did struggle mon to thurs.

Having this show at The National for a three month run I think would ensure a sell out and then transfer it in for a run based on that hype....I hope it doesn't come straight in unless it has a huge budget.

The Pajama Game is definitely happening with Joanna Riding and they're also looking at a West End transfer.

Even after the Simon Callow production?

Excellent news, for both Gypsy and Pajama Game.

Did I read somewhere that this might not happen next year at Chichester? why?

I always thought Chichester was more likely than the National. I can't think of any Chichester production originating in London, am prettysure they always get a run out in Chichester first??

Will be great to finally see a new production of Gypsy. Whatever my question marks about Imelda's vocal ability for the role, I've no doubt she'll give it absolutely everything and create something very special.

"Chichester's main house, however, will be closed for an extensive refurbishment next year, so artistic director Jonathan Church is reported to be working on plans to either open it direct in London or via another regional theatre."

Knowing my luck, they'll open in Sheffield and fail to manage a transfer.

The main festival theatre will be closed next year, however they will have a temp theatre in a tent, hence the year for Barnum, and maybe Gypsy.... It would work.

Pajama Game will more than likely be done in the Minerva.

Thanks, can't they put everything into the Minerva? They had a small tent there this year.

I can see myself going down to Chichester again next year!
