Caught this on Thursday and overall good show but performers and parts better than the whole - its one of those shows where when it does go on tour they hopefully will use that chance to reinvent some of the weak parts and be brave enought to abandon some the things from the movie which just do not work on the stage - (the train fights for example - some seats may make sense of them to most its just a unclear jumble).
Special note for anyone thinking of planning a last chance London visit would be seeing a very dedicated cast and a set of powerhouse leads and seeing the wonderful and belivable chemistry between Mark Evans (singing his heart out and full lead man form) and crystal sharp Siobham Dillon. Sharon D Clarke (almost steals the show) Paul Ayres was covering the Carl role but matched the "names" for presence. I think Ghost will have a stronger afterlife in the regions than its short Broadway & West end would indicate - a tour overhaul may actually make this show robust enough for the tour circuit for some years to come - but as I expect the tour would not start until late 2013 at the earliest I would recommend a visit to the last London shows. PS nice touch that even at the Matinee was that Mark and Paul were out the stage door and signing and having pics taken in calm unrushed manner just a few minutes after the show - much appreciated by the fans
I don't think this will tour, where will it play? By what I mean is the show had a try out in Manchester which seems not too long ago, so not many people would want to go and see the show again from there and Manchester is the major market for any tour in the Isles. If it isn't possible for the tour to sit down in Manchester for several weeks, it is pointless having a UK tour, unless a ATG hatchet tour happens instead.
Do you think when the show was on a try out in Manchester it had a lot of momentum, which it might of lost since, with both the London and New York not loving it?
People were excited of course to be the first seeing it, but the reviews here were strong and audiences really liked it, its advance built very quickly after the reviews to sell out (and that was a 6 week run). People here loved this show so i could see them returning. I also think the rest of the UK would be thrilled to see this on tour, after all even just for the fact that the touring musicals have become so repetitive that it will be something new
I hope the show does return to Manchester and tour the UK, I enjoyed the show very much.Sad to see the show go from the Piccadilly after a undeserved short run, I be sick as a pig if 'Viva Forever' runs for longer.
I think I must be in the minority - I actually loved the show in London and still play the cast album alot. Even Ball of Wax worked for me when watching(although not my favourite to listen to when there are other songs like Rain). It is a triple threat - good music, story and casting. But what would I know?- I foung Mamma Mia dull,Jerry Springer un-funny and wanted Bat Boy to go on and on. This seems to be the opposite to everyone else I meet. Oh, and I prefer Woman in White to Cats/Starlight/Aspects/WOO put together (just to be contraversal).
I agree with quite a few of your opinions, Taboolie! I also loved Ghost, thought Bat Boy was utterly fantastic and was bored silly by Mamma Mia. I also preferred WIW to the other 3 shows you mentioned - and I didn't rate WIW very highly LOL.
I did, however, think Jerry Springer was hilarious!
Back to the original thread - hope the Ghost tour comes somewhere near me as I would love to see it again (having already seen it 3 times in London).
i hope it tours to cardiff cos i really want to see it again after seeing it in the west end recently. i thought it was amazing. of course i had a cry in the end but who doesn't when watching this show or the movie version? the special effects in the show were fab.
has anyone been in the line for day seats recently? what time should i get in line this weekend to hopefully get some? and is it one or two per person?
