Empty seats at my theatre cries Cameron M!

Two shows has failed to come into town causing the show to look almost certainly dark over September.

What's that I hear? Crooners and Christmas... Always a good filler!

I hate to say this Ladies and Gentlemen, are we seeing the results of a double dip recession now? I thought this could be the case for a little while now and it first came to my attention with the Noel Coward Theatre, which did have a hard time finding a show and even taking a booking for a native language version of Uncle Vanya, which is only playing for a few dates, when the production was booked for October, no other show was booked around it, which seemed to smack of desperation so there wasn't a continuation of a show closing, then Uncle Vanya opening a few days later, which theatre owners normally like to do, Now the Michael Grandage season has come along, the goal posts have been changed since for the better.

Also the London Palladium taking on 2 limited run bookings (Scrooge and A Chorus Line), at the exhorted London Palladium where no one wants to put on a long running open ended show.

The dreaded double dip recession could be biting hard, I hope I am wrong though.

Easy, James, I was being facetious. Not that it doesn't have panto elements.

The economy is having an effect, it is with everything, but its nothing alarming.

The problem with The Palladium is there are no big scale shows in the pipeline and RUG messed up hugely with The Palladium and shows looking at it. They have big show lined up for Autumn 2013.

The Wyndhams got into a messy spot due to The Kings Speech, they thought it would last thru 2013 easily. A Chorus of Disapproval was sized up to start there back in Jan 2012, but when they wanted to open in Sept, the Wyndhams was declared unavailable. Just the way it goes...

Look at what is coming in though
Viva Forever, Bodyguard, Charlie, Loserville, Goodnight Mr Tom, Cabaret, Let it Be, Mormon... more will likely be announced by end of Oct for Shaftesbury and Savoy in 2013 and by the end of the year possible Phoenix & Palladium...

The Wyndham's was lucky that Abigail's Party was looking for a West End transfer when the King's Speech closed early otherwise it would have been dark a lot longer. It's not really that bad, some Broadway theatres can be dark for a long period.

Won't be crooners and Christmas, even though they sold out last year. The nearest they will get is Croydon which the production company call London. Soho Cinders for a month probably

Sadly Cinders isn't happening, and is apparently the tour version of Dreamboats and Petticoats.

I'm glad it won't be dark, but disappointed this is being trotted out once again.

Stet.

Especially as I thought I have just seen the back of this show at the Playhouse, this show must be very cheap to put on and the Wyndham's did seem desperate, a lot happier if they had taken Avenue Q again.

It does feel odd to have a Kenwright filler in Wyndhams, especially as the show only just closed and it is (at least part) that cast coming back. Nice for them as they did have quite short closing notices.
