As the West End production of "Chicago" performs its final shows, does anyone feel that the show will "re-emerge" after a few years? I could see that happening. If anyone happens to attend any of the last shows, please share your thoughts/pictures. from RC in Austin, Texas USA (with Terra C, the current "Velma" on Broadway)
It probably will for a season but I think it will just keep touring mainly. It needs to stay out of London in my opinion. Great score but the production is now tired, we need new things. I would be interested in seeing a brand new reimagined version of it in 5 years, out with the minimal band on stage thing ( great but done) and in with something new and creative
I couldn't agree more. I am soooo pleased it's closing. I love the show, but I have never been a fan of this production. It needs a break from the West End for a while and as mentioned earlier, a new production in a few years time. Perhaps by the Menier or Donmar.
"I'm so pleased it's closing." Gosh, does that also mean you're pleased that many people are out of work? It's one thing to hate/not like a show...but to be pleased at a show's ending is more than a bit much. from RC in Austin, Texas USA
I think a lot of people are glad that Chicago as a musical is getting a long-earned rest after 15 years which haven't always been a nice thing to behold with the casting and the tiredness of the production upsetting a lot of people who love it as a show.
Eugh people that post "are you happy so many people are out of work" really annoy me!
It happens. Its happened for decades, it's the business. Get over it. Shows close, yes people are out of Jon, but a new show opens and 95% of people in what ever department or aspect of the theatre never stay with the same show.
Anyway..... Chicago..... It'll be back I am sure within 5 years I would bet
