Priscilla To Tour?

From a tweet by WestEndWilma I went to a website called CastWeb which mentions urgent auditions for a No.1 tour of Priscilla (there's a box of changing text near the top of the homepage).

I think a tour is highly likely. There is a great deal of goodwill for Priscilla in the UK and I think it will do well. Given the set requirements, will be interesting to see which theatres can accomodate the bus et al

I think it could fit into the Edinburgh Playhouse. Maybe the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. Unless they wanted to do arenas.

Some people are saying an April 2013 opening at The Palace Theatre, Manchester.

DO they have it in their contract that they can only play 'Palace Theatres', cause if so then the tour might not be terribly extensive...

I hope is will tour next year and that it will come to the New Victoria theatre Woking or the Richmond theatre or the NEw Wimbledon theatre or the Southampton Mayflower as they are my local theatres.

I believe there's a strong chance Cardiff is getting this too. If so it probably means a fairly extensive tour.

The bus never leaves the stage, albeit, sitting at the back of the stage, hidden by a drop.

Priscilla will tour, no doubt ATG will be looking at this to fill their theatre portfolio.

They've just announced Manchester Opera House 9th to 23rd February 2013 - on sale Wednesday.

They would have been better suited in The Palace in Manchester, the stage is far bigger

The pre-sale email they sent out also announces that Jason Donovan is starring.

Really? I'm not that big a fan but I missed him in London so I'd be intrigued.

WMC haven't officially announced yet but I believe their new season brochure is out by the end of the month so should be something in there...

It will be interesting to see how it sells in Manchester, seeing as the dates coincide with Hairspray at the Lowry and The Lion King at the Palace.

Is HAIRSPRAY a repeat? I'd have thought everyone would have had their fill of that by now.

It's the tail end of the Lion King and it's pretty much sold out anyway. Hairspray we have had before so it's not that bigger deal. We have a HUGE gay community here in Mancs and the Gay Village is a stones throw away from the Palace and Opera house so I think it will sell fine

The problem with this tour is that it will be based on the US production not the one that played in London and originally in Australia.

I have seen both versions and the orginal version is significantly better than the US one which for me lost much of the heart of the show by toning it down in parts and replacing Kylie with Madonna songs.

I think its a big mistake not to tour the London production.

Oh no! It was bad enough when they cut the end of the London prodcution. I don't want to see the US production. It won't be the same.

How did they cut the end of the production in London?

From memory the scene where they all say farewells and Tick & Felicia head off on the bus, leaving Bernadette behind is cut and the show ends rather more abruptly
