Cameron Mackintosh is looking at Barnum or Miss Saigon for Autumn 2013 bow at the Prince Edward. Now Les Mis film is almost put to bed, he is looking for a new West End project.
Barnum rests on Chichesters plans, or if Cameron bites the bullet and opens in directly in London.
Miss Saigon's revival will be direct from Holland.
Jersey Boys is expected to transfer to Gielgud Theatre next Autumn to continue its West End run.
Looks like there will be a lot of revivals opening in London next autumn. The yet unknown revival Michael Ball is planning on bringing into town is also expected to open in autumn of 2013.
Are Cameron's involved in the production in Chichester, or just licensing it? The Barnum rumour has been around as long as the Miss Saigon one(!)
I watched a few minutes of Michael Crawford in Barnum the other day, it'd be great to see a production of it. Isn't the idea in Chichester to do it in a big-top?
Barnum has been in the pipeline for a while, I think at one point, John Barrowman was to star in it. I imagine the production starting at Chichester is similar to when he co-produced My Fair Lady at the National 11 years ago where it started there then transferred to Drury Lane.
Barnum has been in the pipeline for a long time. Michael Ball was asked to do it at one point - I think it was before he did Hairspray and that opened about five years ago.
