Planning on booking tickets to see Sweeney Todd in the next few weeks. The seats we are looking at are in the middle of dress circle (Row K I believe). I'm very fussy about having a good view so my question is does anyone know what the view from Dress Circle row K is like?
I find the Adelphi dress circle pretty good. It's not super close to the stage but it's not that relatively high either. There is a serious rake in the dress circle so it tends to be rarely obstructed by heads. I still prefer sitting in the stalls at the Adelphi (and generally speaking especially on first viewing of a show) but you'll be fine. In fact I think I saw Love Never Dies twice there and the seats are good.
I saw Love Never Dies from row K. The view is fine, but there is very little leg room from what I recall. I got a cheap ticket though, if I was paying full price I would want to be closer as I felt it was a little distant.
If a show I would want to sit in the dress circle for at the Adelphi it would be Sweeney Todd hands down, there are excellent views to be had from there, especially in the barber shop, I wouldn't complain, for once a better seats than the stalls.
I've sat in all levels of The Adelphi and I am not a fan of the Stalls at all. The rake is not much and the lines are very curved so often it's very difficult to get a good seat without going premium. I've not sat that far back in the circle before, but the circle overall is probably the best place for this show. The set is very rounded and all levels and extremities are used, so there's less of a chance of missing things up there.
I agree with the comments about the Stalls-I've sat in a few locations there and found the view to be poor from some (particularly towards the back) as the rake is limited. I've only sat in the Upper Circle (avoid if you have vertigo!)
On the subject of Sweeney, does anyone know how busy the day seats have been recently?
I think it's still an early one. A friend was in line by, I believe, 8am a couple of weeks ago and was second. It sounds to me like 9am wouldn't be unreasonable, though.
