I am thinking of downloading Digital Theatre's filming of the Regent's Park "Into The Woods". Is it simple to do? Once you have downloaded it, can you watch it on a TV or burn it onto a blank DVD?

Once downloaded (which takes a few hours), you can only view the file through the digital theatre player, and can play it through a HD-ready tv via a HDMI cable (if your computer/laptop has the appropriate socket), however it can't be burned to disc and then viewed, as the file type is only compatible with their player.

However, I highly recommend downloading it as it is a gorgeous capture (especially the HD version) and the cast all turn in outstanding performances.

It could, theoretically, be recorded and put on DVD for traders. I'm surprised someone hasn't done it already.
That's right! Underscore mother-fu@#ers!

Thanks for that MusicalBoy! It is very much appreciated!

I will download it, but I would much rather get a DVD of the production from somewhere than just have it on a computer. Wasn't the David Tennant/Catherine Tate "Much Ado About Nothing" released by Digital Theatre but then also put onto DVD for traders to sell? Why can't something similar have been done here?

I always thought they didn't think there was enough interest to invest in DVD manufacture, whereas the Tennant/Tate Much ado about nothing practically sells itself!

Is there a major difference between the "Standard Download" and the "HD Download"? Is it worth spending that extra bit more to see it in HD?

I know nothing of the "Standard Download" but the HD version is glorious!

The Witches Lament just broke my heart. The emotion was so much better than that of Bernadette. I also like that the part missing from the Broadway filming was restored for this one. I am not familiar with the actress, but she was just heartbreaking.

Jenna Russell is someone I've never come around to. I saw her in Sunday and she ruined Dot for me in that one. In this one, however, I found some things I really appreciated about her performance. For one I love how she is so motherly to Red. Joanna Gleason was too, but Russell is more domineering and I liked that. It showed a certain amount of scared responsibility for the young ones.

The Baker was just cute and loveable.

I think what I got from this production was more feeling all the way around. The scene with the Giant (brilliantly executed by the way) had such grit and misery to it. Honestly I think the leaves on the ground helped with this. You could feel how powerless all of the characters felt in those circumstances.

I agree! I feel this production had so much more character than the original!
Hannah waddinghams portayal of the witch is mind blowing. She somehow shows the motherly side of the witch but never appears 'nice'.
I went to see this live and i have to say, the costumes are beautiful and are creatively thought out.
All in all, buy it. Worth every penny!
