This Is how I see with marks out of 5, how long the other longer West End stalwarts might last.
The Mousetrap 5/5 Les Miserables 4/5 The Phantom Of The Opera 5/5 The Lion King 5/5 The Woman In Black 3/5 Mamma Mia 2/5 We Will Rock You 2/5 The 39 Steps 3/5 Billy Elliot 1/5 Stomp 3/5 Wicked 5/5 War Horse 4/5 Jersey Boys 2/5 Thriller 1/5
Mamma Mia! is moving to the Novello next month so it'll be interesting how it fares in its third home.
Stomp I imagine has low running costs so it can survive for a few more years. The 39 Steps which has run 6 years I reckon will be around for a bit longer.
Rock of Ages is looking at going to a smaller theatres (Playhouse rumoured) Shrek's off in the new year
Billy I think will be next for the chop, if things don't look up, I would say next Spring could see it close.
Jersey Boys could easily just transfer to a small venue and still do well. They have the film opening in a few years so I would think they'd try to Hang On (boom boom) for that. There are rumours of it heading to the Geilgud or Wales if Mormon doesn't take off towards the end of next year as Cameron is eyeing Miss Saigon and Barnum for The Prince Edward.
If Billy were to close in the Spring, it would probably require a long closing notice to wind things down and to drum up interest to see the show in its final months.
