....right up into the heart of it - New York, New York!

Just booked my flights for my next trip to New York in November! (Virgin Flying Club special offer price!)

Gonna be there for 7 nights & plan to see 9 shows. Already booked for the second preview of BARE (main reason I chose the dates to be there - do not want to miss this). The other shows I'm hoping to see (and will book for soon) are: NEWSIES, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, REBECCA, CHAPLIN, SCANDALOUS, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD and A CHRISTMAS STORY. I've heard rumours that the Central Park INTO THE WOODS may transfer for a Fall Broadway outing so that will be my final show slot if that happens. If not, there are so many other possibilities!

I've also just booked for Howard Goodall's A WINTER'S TALE at the Landor for the night before I fly out of London.

Can't wait!

Quite an array. Looking at those new musicals, it's hard to see a hit there. Maybe Edwin Drood, the cast is certainly promising. Have a great time!

Wait, so there's a mile high club and a virgin flying club? Must there be a club for everything?

Yeah, mallardo - you're probably right, most of the shows I'll see will likely not run for too long, which is one of the reasons I really want to get to see them!. I've been lucky to see a lot of showsin NYC during the last few years which have flopped but which I thought were superb, so really glad I got to see them.

Bare is perhaps the one with the best chance of a lengthy run - it already has a huge cult following from the CD and its earlier productions and it's in an Off-Broadway house (and the score is awesome!).

A Christmas Story could do quite well too - it's seasonal and the hugely talented Pasek and Paul are amazing songwriters who have earned great critical acclaim recently with their Off-Broadway hit Dogfight (wish that would extend up to November!).

Not holding out much hope for Rebecca - want to see it mainly for the brilliant cast. Similarly with Scandalous - have a feeling it may be not very good but it has the seriously fantastic Carolee Carmello in the lead and I'd pay to hear her sing the phone book!

Chaplin could be a "dark horse" - depends on how good it turns out to be. On the plus side it has a Book by Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and has the brilliant Christiane Noll in the cast - and I've heard two of the songs online and they are really stunning. (You can check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/chriscurtismusicny/music/songs/someones-going-to-love-me-more-10860778 - "Someone's Going To Love Me More" and "The Life That You Wish For".)

Chaplin is the one I'm hoping will surprise us all.

Chaplin has already been seen in La Jolla (or San Diego, same thing) and was much admired by many people. The young star of it (can't remember his name) is supposed to be quite wonderful.

Certainly agree with you, Bob, re Carolee Carmello. Great actress, great voice. I'll never forget seeing her as Miss Pennywise in Urinetown - her big final high C in Privilege To Pee literally rattled the walls of the old Henry Miller's Theatre.
