We're coming in from New York - and as you all know, we seem to have almost all duplicate musicals running in New York and the West End. We do hear all about the new West End musicals over here in New York, but we don't hear as much about the great plays with your amazing U.K. actors.
What do you all recommend (that will be running in October) that would be "do not miss" shows?
For my October trip I am looking at A Chorus of Disapproval at the Harold Pinter (I am a big fan of Rob Brydon). Hedda Gabler with Sheridan Smith at the Old Vic and King Lear (Jonathan Pryce) at the Almeida.
There is also The River at the Royal Court, but I am guessing it will be tricky to get tickets for this.
Just to add to that, you should try and see Jumpy at the Duke of Yorks, an excellent new "middle class" comedy starring two of our best comic actresses, Tamsin Greig and Doon Mackichan. It's already played at the Royal Court and was a big hit there.
The Donmar are doing Racine's Berenice in October with Anne-Marie Duff - another outstanding actress - but I don't know the play so can't really recommend it.
