Word is that after being dropped from Lloyd Webber casting show Over The Rainbow back in 2010, Denise Van Outen is striking out on her own by penning a new musical herself.
Speaking to The Sun, Denise said "I'm writing a musical now -- it's finished and we're workshopping it... Andrew had better watch his back." She also let slip that she intends to perform in the piece herself.
"It's a Shirley Valentine-type story but that's as much as I can tell you." Van Outen said, "It's a bit like Tell Me On A Sunday, which Andrew wrote in the Seventies, but for our generation -- for now."
She's also staying well clear of Superstar-style casting shows - "I won't be casting on TV -- because I'll be in it."
Steve Anderson and Terry Ronald, who write music for Kylie Minogue, have joined the creative team to work on script and score. We wait with bated breath.
A one woman show? Could be good. A good idea financially too, if it's cheap to run but is of good quality and showcases the talents a large portion of the nation like in Denise.
Oh dear. It sounds DVO still has the knives out for ALW and his casting shows. Sour grapes over being dropped by him, for not giving hubby a role in JCS & not giving him a place on the panel.
Would she dare ask him to any workshops to see if wants to produce?
