In my many years of theatre going, there are occasionally truly magical moments, thankfully quite rare for they make these moments even more special, when I've been totally blown away by something quite exceptional. Today, watching Hattie Morahan's portrayal of Nora in A Doll's House was one such moment. What a privilege to experience such an outstanding performance and a fantastic production.

I hope you manage to get a ticket.

Yes I've seen the play once before with Janet McTeer as Nora many years ago.

The current Young Vic production brings the play to life so brilliantly thanks to superb staging that makes you feel like its set in A Dolls House and the quite outstanding performance by Hattie Morahan.

I had one or two minor issues with the production but I generally agree with theatrepaul. I certainly agree about Hattie Morahan who is wonderful.

Given the on the whole rave reviews for the performances and staging has anyone heard of any afterlife for this show hopefully via a regional tour or do young vic productions tend just to run there?

The current run at the Young Vic ends on 4th August so there isn't long to see it there. Hopefully it well get a longer run somewhere else as it really deserves it

Saw this tonight on Paul's recommendation and.................................................................enjoyed it.

***A serious minor gripe next***

However I hated the programme, only £3 though but it is like a short novel, that has the bios in the front for the first 20 pages, which was bereft of any photos, then about 100 pages of 'A Doll's House' dialogue.

Quite a few theatres, like the Royal Court for instance, sell the programme/playscript combined. Although it would be nice to have a few pics of the cast/ rehearsal pics or whatever, it is very good value as a play text bought on its on is quite expensive. And for those of us who like to read the play, ideal.
Certainly in comparison to the over priced West End editions, which apart from a few pages specific to the production, are mainly ads.

I have never been to the Royal Court, so this type of programme is new to me.

I do like to read up on the play synopsis on wikipedia, but would never read the play afterwards, also this type of programme is very hard to store as it looks like a small 'Mills and Boon' novel.

So from a personal perspective I would of appreciated cast photos instead as in a play it is harder to work out, who is who, in a musical it is a lot easier.

Phew, am glad you enjoyed it Phantom

Agree about the theatre "programme". I know the Royal Court have used playtexts as programmes for years but dont remember the Young Vic going down the play text route in the past and hope they don't again. I wanted much more about the background to the play, the production and the actors.

Personally, I like playtexts - you get the cast bios PLUS the play itself as a bonus.

The Young Vic has used them off and on for a while now - I have several from there. Some of the better fringe theatres also use them - the Finborough, the Print Room and the Gate in Notting Hill, as well as, of course, the Royal Court.

The Young Vic have today announced that the producion will return for 3 weeks in April 2013. I would urge anyone who didn't see it the first time around to go.

Having been blown away by this production last summer, I saw it again yesterday during its brief return to the Young Vic. If anything, Hattie Morahan' s Nora is even better this time. She goes from child like to sexual and suggestive, happy to desperate and horrified, capturing every aspect of this complex character quite brilliantly. Hattie as Nora remains for me one of the finest performances I've ever seen in my many years of theatre going. The upcoming Olivier award for Best Actress MUST be hers, there is no one who deserves it more.

Im delighted. Although I've seen it twice, I might be tempted to go again. I doubt I should ever tire of Hattie Morahan

The last Young Vic production to transfer was The Magic Flute which was also at the Duke of Yorks, hopefully A Dolls House will do well.
