I adored Crazy For You! Slightly biased as i was playing Lank in my school production at the time i saw the revival, so was already in love with the show.
Seeing as Crazy For You struggled to find an audience Nice Work could struggle?
I think it's sad they're not doing original Gershwin musicals much - just these "new" Gershwin musicals. Quite impressive they're still writing considering they're both dead. Are Crazy For You and Nice Work (and another earlier London production: My one and only) jukebox musicals, then?
Is Crazy For You technically an adaption of Girl Crazy?
Yes..with extra songs from other shows. Not uncommon, the Anything Goes which is now done (the NT/Broadway)has extra Porter songs stuck in (pretty effectively).
I wouldn't call it a jukebox musical though..it's still (sort of) the original show/story/songs.
Nice Work isn't based on an existing Gershwin show (I don't think...)
