On Sunday Aug 19 SimG Productions will present its latest in a series of showcases of MT composers. This time it will be 3 American composers and the show will be at the Matcham Room at the London Hippodrome.
The 3 composers will be Georgia Stitt (Mrs Jason Robert Brown), Scott Evan Davis and Michael Patrick Walker. The cast list is seriously impressive: Lauren Samuels (We Will Rock You, The Last Five Years, Grease), Caroline Sheen (Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia), Stuart Matthew Price (Mack & Mabel, Shrek, Parade) and Simon Thomas (Legally Blonde, A Tale Of Two Cities, Margueritte).
I've heard some of Scott Evan Davis's work online and it sounds brilliant; I saw Walker's Altar Boyz Off-Broadway and it was a fantastic show; and Georgia Stitt's songwriting is pretty much as good as it gets. And with that amazing cast as the icing on the cake - I will not be missing this one!
If only they'd gone for a later time. I'm in London on that day but I'm seeing Soho Cinders at 4 p.m. Would've made an ideal evening concert. Hopefully something else will crop up.
Anyone going to this? There are still some tickets left. It's going to be a fantastic night.
Latest news - the amazing Kelly-Anne Gower will be joining the cast, hot from the Blood Brothers tour and from filming for the Les Mis movie. For those who have never heard Kelly's incredible vocals, check her out singing STILL EVEN NOW from the studio cast album of MY LAND'S SHORE here: http://www.simongreiff.com/SIMGproductions/Records/My_Land's_Shore.html
Here's a video teaser about the show. Apparently there are still some tickets left - so book now! I really think this could be one of THE nights of the year in London musical theatre. Such phenomenal songwriting talent on display and with a cast to die for! Getting very excited about being there now! Video teaser: An Evening With The Composers Davis, Stitt and Walker
here's another video from the Hippodrome concert that's just gone up on youtube: the Scott Evan Davis song If We Say Goodbye sung by Stuart Matthew Price. I think this is a seriously fantastic song - and Stuart's vocals are pure magic. Youtube: Scott Evan Davis's If We Say Goodbye - Stuart Matthew Price
The videos of the amazing songs from this concert keep flowing up onto youtube. Here's the latest - Shakespeare's Sonnet XXIX set to music by Georgia Stitt and performed by Stuart Matthew Price. This is honestly one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard! And Stuart's vocals (yet again) are just plain gorgeous. youtube: SonnetXXIX by Georgia Stitt sung by Stuart Matthew Price
And an awesome quartet version of Scott Evans Davis's Ready To Fly (which was a world premiere performance of this vocal arrangement) - sung by Lauren Samuels, cCaroline Sheen, Simon Thomas & Stuart Matthew Price: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6YSNGg8bBU&feature=plcp
