I am considering booking tickets for Cape Town Opera's "Porgy & Bess" during its run at the London Coliseum later this month. I have looked on "Theatre Monkey" for seating/sightline opinions for this theatre but there does not seem to be any available. Is there another site where I can find this information? Has anyone been to the Coliseum before? What are the sightlines like? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I can't offer advice on sightlines, but I would strongly recommend against seeing it...unless you enjoy reading the text for two and a half hours.

Re: seating-it's been a while since I've been but I recall the 'restricted view' seats (somewhere on the edge of the circle maybe?) weren't particularly restricted at all.
Re: the show, saw it in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago, and yes you will need to read the surtitles for most of the show but I did find it an interesting production (that said I had discounted tickets and wouldn't have paid full price for it)
Maybe I'm on nobody's side

Well I had to read the surtitles for 5 and a half hours of Les Troyens and it didn't affect my enjoyment (although that was because it was French). Its quite common for English operas to still have I read the surtitles to get the message
2012 Shows!
The Railway Children, The Lion In Winter, The Comedy of Errors, Richard II, Pippin, The Ladykillers, Absent Friends, Shrek, Masterclass, Jersey Boys
Rock Of Ages, Legally Blonde, Hay Fever, Singin' in the Rain, Abigail's Party, What the Butler Saw, Ragtime. [Booked] London Road, The Last of the Haussmans.
Unfortunately, this Opera is in English yet the diction is so poor one has to read the surtitles, quite a different situation to a foreign language opera. Even as an opera singer, I find this unacceptable.
Other tastes, however may vary - simply my word of warning.

I visit the ENO about three times a year and I'm very fussy - if I can't get front row of the stalls I won't go! It does mean I have to buy my tickets as soon as they go on sale which can be 9 - 12 months in advance.
