"Whether you're Corey Feldman, Frankie Muniz, Justin Bieber or even a talking teddy bear, after a while no one gives a sh!t!"
My friend and I couldn't stop laughing at Ted this morning (or remembering the jokes after). I've only caught 5 minutes of a Family Guy episode here and there so I can't really say how this compares, but if the show is anything like this movie I'll head over to amazon and pick up the DVDs.
This is what I want out of a summer comedy. A good old fun time.
The Joan Crawford reference got a clap from my friend and me! I'm surprised it is having such wide appeal- the whole thing was a love letter to 80s and 90s pop culture. Wouldn't have thought it would connect with a younger crowd, but it must have.
Slight Spoiler- Loved the line when Mark is singing poorly and Ted pipes up, "Still better than Katy Perry!"
Even if the rest of the movie had sucked, it fulfilled my fantasy of Ryan Reynolds being gay, and for that I am eternally grateful. I loved the movie as well.

I was on the fence about seeing this one, but it's sounding like it will be worth it.
In all honesty, check out some of the earlier Family Guy episodes. This past season just felt very off to me and I can't recall any episode that I particularly cared for. American Dad, on the other hand, I feel has continued to grow immensely. It almost feels as if Seth handed Family Guy off to others and has focused more on American Dad (I don't know how true that is, just the feeling I get from the shifts in quality the past few seasons really).
All the tricks that Family Guy uses to be "funny" are thankfully missing from this movie. I know that people are big fans of how Family Guy sets up a joke and then goes on 10 min tangent that has nothing to due with plot, but I have always found it pretty lazy. That having been said I don't think I have laughed so hard at movie since Bridesmaids. Really funny stuff.
AEA, I agree tremendously! American Dad started out kind of forced but has grown into a wonderfully funny satire! I find it's story line premises much more adult and smart then Family Guy.
I really enjoyed the film. Yes, it is totally contrived and I can't help but think he was inspired by the "Bad Idea Bears", but I had a really good time. The theatre was packed and it was great to hear all the laughter.
The film is surprising in many ways and it is a total love letter to the 80s. I thought it even had elements of Gremlins or a Spielberg flick to it. It's gonna make a lot of money.
Theres even room for a sequel. I will say Mark Wahlberg's wigs are getting bad.
for some reason the line that had me laughing the most was when Ted says something like "my neighbors are Asian, but they don't have a gong or anything so it's fine"... that had me laughing hysterically...
