The musical 'Bare' will come to New York in Winter 2012.
New World Stages, New York. Opening night 9th Dec 2012 Previews from 19 Nov 2012.
Featuring music by Damon Intrabartolo and book & lyrics by Jon Hartmere Directed by Stafford Arima ('Carrie', 'Altar Boyz') Choreographed by Travis Wall (US TVs 'So You Think You Can Dance'). Additional songs are by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel ('Altar Boyz', 'Cry-Baby', 'Company').
'Bare' is the story of a group of teens as they wrestle with their identities, sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. As their final year of high school draws to a close, they attempt to navigate the complex road from adolescence to adulthood and must then deal with the consequences of their choices as they prepare to take the next step in their lives.
Producer Randy Taradash said, "The story resonates because it is one we are all familiar with: the challenges of growing up, of loving and accepting ourselves. We have been working with the creative team to re-conceive Bare for today's audience and are thrilled to be presenting this new production at a time when its message reverberates with unprecedented clarity."
'Bare' had its world premiere at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles, CA, where it began performances on 14th Oct 2000. 'Bare' began its run Off-Broadway at the American Theatre of Actors on 25th Mar 2004. The musical has since had more than 100 productions worldwide.
The musical is being produced Off-Broadway by Randy Taradashh, Paul Boskind and Martian Entertainment, and Gregory Rae.
The "Bare" score is fantastic! I've decided to delay my planned trip to New York in November by a week to make sure I'm there after it starts its Previews. This is now top of my list of shows to see in NYC.
