i absolutely LOVE Book of Mormon, but i cannot see it finding a wide audience over here :/
I feel the cult fans and avid theatre goers will keep it open for about 18 months before it starts to tail off? Any one agree?
I am not wishing this production to close at all but Mormonism is so american and without stunt casting i cannot see this brilliant show finding a warm welcome over
What do you think?

I genuinely think it will last quite a while, and that a massive bulk of audience members will be American tourists who can't get tickets in the states.
2012 Shows!
The Railway Children, The Lion In Winter, The Comedy of Errors, Richard II, Pippin, The Ladykillers, Absent Friends, Shrek, Masterclass, Jersey Boys
Rock Of Ages, Legally Blonde, Hay Fever, Singin' in the Rain, Abigail's Party, What the Butler Saw, Ragtime. [Booked] London Road, The Last of the Haussmans.
^ agreed, and ive also had a few friend who are casual theatregoers and have received the email about it coming raise some interest. And they are people I thought would never be interested in it. I think it may surprise people and be a hit, not in the same way it is in NYC, but maybe in the same way Wicked is here
We have Jehovah's Witnesses here, so the whole concept of door to door selling of religion is relatable and a majority of people have heard of mormons (even if just because of the Osmonds) and maybe know a little about it.
Definitely don't underestimate the American tourists who can't get tickets in the states, or the expats who expats who haven't been able to get to the states to see it. But mostly, I think the incredible humor will win over this audience despite any lack of connection to the subject matter. Avenue Q did ok here, didn't it? I think raunchy humor will work anywhere.
Well I listened to all the songs on the album and I didn't find the humour even remotely funny lol. To me it came across as rather puerile and cheap. But it seems to appeal to a lot of people so I won't even begin to predict how well or otherwise it will do over here.
THEATRE 2013: Honk!***** Honk!***** Crazy For You***** Honk!***** The Magistrate***** Kiss Me, Kate**** The Bodyguard**** Lift*** A Chorus Line***** Privates On Parade**** Dear World**** Chess***** The Producers (amateur)*** British Boy In Brooklyn**** Tick Tick Boom*** Billy (amateur)*** 9 To 5*** A Class Act***** The Hired Man***** Darling Of The Day**** The Musician* Rooms***** Goodnight, Mister Tom****
Obviously If I said it is going to do as well or better than New York, I should be certified completely bonkers. Which I am not mad as it won't do as well as New York, but still will fins a audience.
I think the point made with American tourists going to see it is a brilliant point. Apart from the shock appeal of a couple of aspects of the show, despite that, the show has humour and is genuine funny and mirrors both genuine and traditional musical theatre to the core.
I see Mormon doing 4-7 year run in the West End.
2013 Shows: (New York: Glengarry Glen Ross*** Picnic**** The Lion King**** Mamma Mia**** Who's Afraid of Virginia Woofe**** The Other Place*** Nice Work, If You Can Get It** Annie**** The Phantom of the Opera**** Cat On A Hot Tin Roof*** Cinderella**** Evita**** (Final Performance) The Mystery of Edwin Drood*** Mary Poppins*****) London: Salad Days** Great Expectations*** This House** Chess**** A Chorus Line**** Quartermine's Terms**** Old Times*** The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time***** Dear World*** People**** Viva Forever** Peter and Alice** The Wimslow Boy***** Proof**** Our Country's Good* The Tailor Made Man**** Darling of the Day*** Top Hat*** A Judas Kiss*** Spamalot*** Once**** Wicked** A Chorus Line**** Book of Mormon***** Hairspray**** (Tour: Southampton) Sleeping Arrangements***** The Revenge of Sherlock Holmes*** The Pajama Game***(Chichester)The Thrill of Love*** Hymn**/Cocktail Sticks**** Merrily We Roll Along***** The Weir**** The Hot House**** The Rise and the Fall of the Little Voice***** (Churchill, Bromley) Ghost*** (Wimbledon)
I too don't find anything funny about this show, but couldn't possibly judge it properly until I've seen it.
2013 Theatre: Loserville ***** Merrily We Roll Along ***** La Bohéme (Royal Opera House Live) **** One Man, Two Guvnors (UK Tour) * Oliver! (UK Tour) ***** Lulu (Welsh National Opera) ***** Driving Miss Daisy (UK Tour) [x2] ***** Sexual Perversity in Chicago *** Madame Butterfly (Welsh National Opera) *** High Society (UK Tour) *** Singin' In The Rain ***** The Ladykillers (UK Tour) ***** Peter And Alice ***** A Chorus Line ***** Once *** A Chorus Line ***** GHOST: The Musical (UK Tour) **** The Great Gatsby (Northern Ballet) ***** RENT - 20th Anniversary Concert ** The Woman in Black (UK Tour) ** Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty *****
I'm thinking 2-3 year run which would be very good. Just looking at past Broadway transfers like The Producers which had good run in London but were not the smash hits that they were on Broadway.
