Does anyone know when this is going to begin? Just so I can set my sky+.
At least The Lord will not be distracted by the Broadway production that looks like it is going to close this Sunday, a caveat has been issued the show has to do better, think it will need some divine intervention. I have brought forward my plans to be there this Sunday.
Avoiding this thanks to the involvement of Amanda Holden, Dawn French (what does she have to do with musical theatre?) and the fact there will be adverts.
Jesus didn't turn water into cash at the Neil Simon.
he Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, which opened at the Neil Simon Theatre March 22 after a critically praised, extended run at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival last year, will close July 1 after 116 performances.
On June 20, producers announced that unless business improved, July 1 would be the last performance. Producers have not released tickets past the 3 PM matinee on July 1, and the official website for the revival states that this will be the final week of performances.
The new, multimedia staging of Superstar, shaped by Tony-winning director Des McAnuff (The Who's Tommy, Jersey Boys), first debuted in an extended, sold-out run last summer at Ontario's Stratford Festival, nabbing strong critical reviews and the blessing of its writers, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
'Superstar', the ITV talent show to find a lead for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of 'Jesus Christ Superstar', will launch next week.
The series has announced its first two transmission dates on Saturday July 7 and Sunday July 8, which will feature the pre-recorded auditions process.
The hour-long shows will be screened at 7.25pm and 8pm respectively.
It is understood that the live shows in the series - the transmission dates of which have not yet been announced - will be screened across consecutive evenings on ITV1.
The series is being made by ITV Studios.
Following the TV show, the live production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' will embark on a UK arena tour.
Show One (Saturday 7 July, 19:25 - 20:25) ¯ Auditions with Andrew Lloyd Webber and West End Casting Director David Grindrod ¯ Brixton Academy Callbacks with Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Grindrod, Melanie C and Jason Donovan (final 100 - 40)
Show Two (Sunday 8 July, 20:00 - 21:00) ¯ Superstar Island ¯ A pop up performance school with an intensive week of vocal, acting and dance training. (final 40 - 30)
Show Three ¯ Majorca ¯ A taste of the rock and roll lifestyle with performances at Andrew¯s house (final 30 ¯ 20) ¯ Europe ¯ Contenders travel back via Superstar coach ¯ Final Challenge ¯ Contenders perform for one final time at London docks overlooking the O2 (the first venue of arena Tour) ¯ Andrew chooses his final 10 for the live shows
I am sure we are going to here the normal rhetoric from 'The Lord', like this is his hardest search yet, that his Jesus has to be the most talented singer yet and it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
