We expect casualties in January, and of course some after the Tonys, but Sister Act giving in too, just after the JCS announcement, (which I know was on the cards). It just feels like hard times on Broadway.
Glad we're over here. Not that the West End is much safer just now...
Let me just say something in Sister Act's defense. As much as I love the show. I cannot say that I am surprised to hear that it is closing. It was hanging on for dear life for quite awhile now.

Disappointed that a number of shows have closed that I was hoping to catch when I get to New York in November. But there are also a lot of shows (& plays) opening on Broadway that I WILL catch in November - Rebecca, Edwin Drood, Chaplin, Annie, Glengarry Glen Ross - and at least Newsies has extended and Nice Work If You Can Get It seems to be staying.
And the great news is that BARE is opening at the new World Stages in November - really excited about seeing that.

Totally agree about prices- when is some clever producer going to realize what works in every other industry: under-cutting the opposition can attract customers.
I know that full prices are inflated to allow for discounting, but $500 for a family to watch a Broadway show just seems like a massive dis-incentive!
Didn't see that one coming, a bit of a curveball there. Show still hasn't recouped I believe.
Great show.
