The show is struggling at the Garrick with reportedly a very low advance worthy of a small play. The show was expected to run comfortably at the Garrick given its size, so producers stripped marketing budgets, which seems to have backfired.
Wow Chicago looks like it is on its last legs, I wasn't expecting this anytime soon, however I do not like the show and do not understand the attraction.
Chicago has run for so long because it is so CHEAP to run, also it is a tourist attraction, where tourists are lulled into under the false ospices that it is good.
It is a great show just a tired production. It's great to know there is a show that is great that has the same appeal of crap like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.
I think they thought such a small venue that the show should just survive with an ok advance and sell on the day. It hasn't quite worked out, the show hasn't had a star or celeb coup for a while which I think hasn't helped.
The show is cheap to run but an advance to some degree of health is need for security, which it seems the show is bordering.
I'm sure they'll be able to stunt cast to get the punters back in. I wonder had the Garrick not been available back in November, if the show would have closed.
Havnt they got the political bloke from Smash in now? I know he's done musicals before so less of a stunt. And they just had Ugly Betty.
With top price being £70 (£89 premium - who are they kidding?)its no wonder it has no advance, £36 is too much on tkts too. I'm sure there are proper discounts elsewhere but pricing wise its not doing a good job of making itself attractive to casual tourists.
