On the newly launched SimG Productions website, you can now listen to songs from all of the albums released on the SimG records label (including Stiles & Drewe's Soho Cinders & The Three Little Pigs) - in addition to learning all about the fantastic work done by producer/director, Simon Greiff (who was the subject of an article in The Stage a few months ago when Mark Shenton wrote that he "does more individually to support new writers than just about anyone in British Theatre").
The studio cast album of the epic historical musical MY LAND'S SHORE (by Christopher J. Orton and myself) is one of the CDs in the SimG catalogue. Please check out the page (link below) where you can listen to 5 songs from the album - with vocals by Jonathan Williams (Les Miserables, Godspell), Kelly-Anne Gower (Blood Brothers, Les Miserables), Rhiannon Sarah Porter (Vampirettes, Les Miserables), Alexis James (War Of The Worlds, Notre Dame de Paris, Les Miserables) & Sarah Lark (The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, Oliver!)
We are currently talking to producers/director/theatre about a possible forthcoming production of My Land's Shore (look out for announcements in the coming months!) - so here's a chance for you to hear some songs from the show in advance. (And, of course, if you enjoy, you may even want to buy the album, which is already selling really well worldwide - in the UK, Germany, USA, Australia and Japan!).
We are confident that by next year this will be THE musical EVERYONE is talking about. So we'd love to hear your thoughts after hearing the songs.
Thanks for your feedback, dgjbear - glad you like it.
We are aiming for a production in Wales and further afield. It is, of course, a show about one of the most famous events in Welsh history but its themes are universal.
So pleased you love the music, peggyb2. I agree it's desperately sad, reflecting the harrowing events and harsh way of life of the times it is set in. (There are a few humourous moments in the show, though - including a raucous comedy number.)
And yes, Jon Williams is seriously amazing on the recording (just as he was when he played Valjean in Les Mis).
I was just listening to this earlier! I adore the recording and am very excited for a production here in Wales-it is one of the most important stories in Welsh history and hearing it brought to life so beautifully is wonderful :)
Thanks, SADM. For you and the others who said they love I Know I Love Him, here's the link to a "live" performance of the song at the Giggin4Good charity concert at the Actors' Church, Covent Garden in February (vocals by Kelly-Anne Gower, Sarah Lark & Laura Selwood).
