The Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, which had recently announced an extension through Aug. 19, will end its run July 22 in anticipation of a fall London engagement.
In May, producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia M. Jones of Front Row Productions announced that Streetcar would extend its limited engagement through Aug. 19. The multi-ethnic revival will now conclude on its originally scheduled end date of July 22.
A representative for the production told Playbill.com that A Streetcar Named Desire will begin a West End run this fall. Dates of production have not been determined.
Byrd and Front Row Productions also produced the 2008 all-African-American Broadway revival of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, which later transferred to London (with its Broadway cast) for an Olivier Award-winning run.

I would have said the same thing, but I thought CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF did really badly on Broadway but then was a big hit over here so perhaps they're hoping for something similar here?
The Donmar production was superb and yeah, very recent. I'm surprised if it is the case this is transferring as this completely bombed on Broadway. I was planning on going to see it but couldn't because of lack of time, but was relieved to hear that it was best I didn't see it...no-one had ANY good things to say about it.
Is the West End thing just the regular "it wasn't that unsuccessful!" spiel from the Broadway producers?
