Director Spike Lee is in talks to direct Mike Tyson on Broadway in his one-man show 'Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth'.

Co-written by Kiki Tyson and Randy Jackson, in a production that is expected to arrive in the late summer followed by a London season.

"Lee is in final talks to join the production as it gets ready to debut on the Great White Way. Tyson did the show for a week in Las Vegas and we're told Lee and Tyson have been talking about what changes need to be made as they transition to the biggest stage of all."

'Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth' played at the Hollywood Theatre at MGM Grand Hotel in Los Angeles for six performances from 13th to 18th Apr 2012, directed by by Randy Jackson

'Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth' is the live, world premiere, one-man show starring legendary boxer Mike Tyson.
Tyson will reveal untold stories, peeling back layers of tragedy and public turmoil while unfolding his tale of triumph and survival. In an up-close-and-personal setting featuring images, music and video, Tyson, in an intimate and theatrical setting, will share the stories of his life and experiences as a professional athlete and controversies in and out of the ring.

Tim Dahlberg of the Associated Press writting after seeing the show in Los Angeles said, "That he's transformed himself into something far different than his fearsome former self is even more remarkable. He's now America's Guest, a comedian/actor/storyteller who finds it both therapeutic and financially lucrative to talk about a time gone by, when he mesmerized the world with his wild and crazy ways. ....The idea of Tyson doing a one-man show that people would actually pay to see seems a bit ludicrous. Somehow, though, it works — in a lot of ways."

For nearly three decades, Mike Tyson has been a legend both in and out of the ring. With nicknames like “Iron Mike,” “Kid Dynamite,” and “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” he was once the most feared fighter in all of boxing. While most people know that Tyson was once the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, few realize that before Tyson, no boxer had ever won the three biggest belts in prizefighting—the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles. None, besides Tyson, have ever owned them simultaneously."

Dear Mama.

Why would this be the "lowest of the low"? Have you seen it? Have you heard much about it? Do you not think the strange accomplishments of this mad is fodder enough for the theatre?

Or do the idea of the great Spike Lee directing a play about Mike Tyson trip racist impulses in you?

Any way you shake it you disgust me.

Owen22 - Mike Tyson raped a woman and was a bully. He spent years in jail for his actions. Heck, Tyson even bit part of the ear of his opponent (Holyfield) off in a heavyweight fight. I don't think it is racist to think a show about a man with his background is pretty low. To paraphase Martin Luther King, I think "Mama" is judging this by Tyson's charachter not the color of his skin.

Owen22 I have to admire your tenacity.

You keep flinging accusations at Mama.

And one day, who knows, one of your comments might be justified.

For the time being though, you just expose your ignorance.

Tyson, from what we know does seem a truly unpleasant man, that said, everyone is entitled to have their moment to explain themselves, and if people want to direct and invest in such a production then fair enough. The audience will vote with its feet either way. It could be an interesting character study

So, after he has raped many women, shown incredible violence to many, he is now, after the hideous crime shave been performed, allowed to explain?

Of course he can explain, whether anyone listens or accepts it is another matter, but he is entitled to try

MamasDoin'Fine - I agree with you that he is a disgusting man and it would be a all time low. That being said, if somebody wants to do it there is no legal way to stop it. I would be more amazed to see the people who would actually attend a show like this one. I guess the next possible show will be about Michael Vick - OMG !!!

I'm not saying stop him, I didn't say anything of the kind, I posted this just thru the shear surprise that people will, and indeed already have, payed to see him justify his past!
It will make for an electric experience I'm sure.

As for anything racist that some people seem to read in the original post above, have a word with the publicist who sent it to me if any one has a problem with it!

MamasDoin'Fine- I know you did not say to stop the show, I misspoke and did not articulate properly the point I wanted to make which is there is no accounting for taste if this show can get backed and have a audience.
