The cast recording of the new Stiles & Drewe musical, “The Three Little Pigs”, will be released by SimG Records on June 25th and is exclusively available at Dress Circle for pre-orders from today.
"The Three little Pigs" is a short family-friendly musical which is the first in what Stiles and Drewe say will be a “trilogy of trios” (the companion piece shows will be “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “Three Billy Goats Gruff”). It tells the story of its three eponymous heroes named after the writers’ three favourite barbecued pork dim sum (Cha, Siu and Bao) and their attempts to avoid being eaten by the Big Bad Wolf. After a spate of house building and much huffing and puffing, all of course ends happily ever after and along the way children of all ages from 3 to 93 can sit back and enjoy the delights of the show’s catchy score.
For the recording, Stiles and Drewe have assembled a stellar cast: - Alison Jiear (“Jerry Springer The Opera”, “Grease”) as the Piglets’ put-upon Mother who is “too old and too tough to eat” , Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe (“The Fantasticks”, “Guys and Dolls”) as the Big, Bad but Misunderstood? Wolf, and Gareth Gates (“Les Miserables”, “Joseph”) , Amy Lennox (“Soho Cinders”, “Legally Blonde”) and Lewis Barnshaw (“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”, “Just So”) as the three pigs.
I've listened to some of the songs and they all sound great - and Alison Jiear is awesome on "A Real Pig Sty".
You can find out more and listen to 5 of the songs on the SimG Records website:
