This is exciting! Didn't get to see the recent concert staging at the Queen's but have the recording of it and really like the score. There's some great songs in it - "Gypsies of the Ether", "They Don't Make Glass Slippers", "Spin" and "Let Him Go" to name but a few! Can't wait to hear more about a production!

With a new book and extra songs, this could work.

And a change of some of the cast too. Definitely has potential. It could either be a run adult panto (which is how it feels now) or they could add depth to try and make it more substantial as a all year round musical

I really love this score - Stiles and Drewe's best IMO - it's one of the most played CDs in my collection in recent months. Really wish I could have gotten to see the concert production. So am now very excited about seeing the show.

The concert cast on the CD sound amazing but obviously they won't all be available for this production (Michael Xavier will be in Wonderful Town, for example.) I hope Jos Slovick will be cast as Robbie - such a great actor and his vocals are seriously awesome.

^ Haha, Jos is one of the cast i hope gets replaced. Average at best. Agreed though, great score.

Michael may be available, and Wonderful Town is only a short tour I think. Depends when they stage it.

Having had the pleasure and privilege of working with Jos Slovick in the studio when he recorded a song written by Joe Sterling from one of my musicals, I can assure you he is anything but "average". His vocal instrument is sensational.

If you need any proof - take a listen to this!

I agree, he was pretty awful vocally and acting wise!

After how perfect Betty Blue Eyes was, I was greatly disappointed with this show - especially how unprofessional the end of the evening turned out to be.

I don't think they should be trying to sell Soho Cinders as "edgy". Sure, it's got swearwords in, but it's camp panto stuff, something like I imagine Jim Davidson's Sinderella was back in the 90s and the kind of thing that plays Above The Stag nowadays.

There's some nice moments in the score (unsurprisingly, it's Stiles and Drewe) but it seems perhaps a little dated.

Totally agree, it should be a short run in a small theatre, Soho, Arts or Charing Cross would be ideal, preferably around Christmas time.

I does have more of a panto feel about it I agree. However I heard Soho Theatre over the summer, not sure how accurate that is but seems the wrong timing

A summer run would be bizarre. Would have thought a far easier sell as camp chrimbo fluff.

I can't see why a summer run would be bizarre - there's nothing particularly christmassy or panto-esque about the show. It's a quirky, edgy, contemporary musical that is very loosely based on the Cinderella story. And it has a far better score than many shows that will be on view in London during the summer.

And the goss that I heard about it a few weeks ago suggests that it WILL be a summer run.

This smells of the Kings Head production of 'Mr Cinder's' back in the mid 80s. a very successful 2 season run in Islington then an unheard of 3 year run in the West End at the Fortune theatre.

This, however will never get the praise 'Mr Cinders' achieved basically because this kind of show is not what the West End is today. Simple.

The ugly sisters are very panto-esq, as were the narrators puns, and even the girl being Velcro instead of Buttons.

As I said Id be excited to see it again in whatever form but still feel it would be an easier sell as a panto alternative.

Princeton, you are of course entitled to your opinion but I think the score has a definite "edge" to it, which is why it's my favourite Stiles and Drewe score.

Btw - I detest pantomime with a vengeance lol so if I felt it was in anyway a pantomime I would steer well clear. But the edginess of the score(musically and lyricially) really "grabs" me every time I listen to it.
