As Johnny come latelys, we've finally got some decent seats for the show in July.

The cast recording only appears to be available from the RSC and Dress Circle at what seems a pretty hairaising price of about £15.

Having got used to even new recordings (from either the UK or the USA) being discounted to not much more than £8 or so, is this restricted availability (and price) likely to continue?

You're right, I've only been able to source it for around £15.

I've been looking for ages on Amazon but they don't stock it. In comparison, I got the new Sweeney Todd CD on there at a discounted rate so don't know what the issue is with the Matilda recording?

The RSC probably want to milk this show for as much as possible - so they're probably only allowing themselves and Dress Circle to sell the CD for a price they dictate.

Of course, it's on iTunes for £7.99. Not on Spotify (like Sweeney Todd is)

I'm hoping they'll give up on the exclusive seller thing soon. I can't see it lasting when it gets to the US!

I'm still a CD guy..at least until they allow you to buy lossless files. At my age my ears need all the help they can.

I thought the Drerss Circle deal was done to support the struggling store?

Probably. They missed an opportunity by not having a Tim Minchin signing/performance.

It's also very near the theatre... so that may have had something to do with it.
