A belated reply to rjm516 - a satisfied customer posted on theatre monkey.com : "At £15 I would get these seats every time". She is referring to the seats in the slips - movable chairs at either side of the Grand Circle, seats AA 1-6 and 7-12. Apparently you can pull them right forward and see practically everything. I've booked AA 12 for a performance in a few weeks time, so we shall see.
We got four last minute tickets on Saturday (6pm) from the Aldwych box office,£25 each (the cheapest they were selling) in the Grand Circle. An hour later we were upgraded to the Dress Circle, where tickets would have been £50 from Ticketmaster. So a bit like Mark_E's experience - worth taking the risk. Might be more difficult in August, though, with "Kidsweek" offers on. Oh, and the verdict of our friends on the performance: "Awesome".
Discounted tickets now available on lastminute.com, though not exactly big reductions, and you can't choose your seats. Might be worth looking at if intending to spend £32-50.
I don't think there are day seats, but it's always worth trying to get seats in the slips (either side of the Grand Circle, AA 1-6 & 7-12. A friend of mine did this a few weeks ago - booked these cheap seats in advance, then moved around to more central seats that weren't occupied. She was delighted, and would do it again. Theatre monkey.com/Aldwych has lots of detail about seats. Hope this helps!
No evening show for Top Hat this Saturday (20 Oct); the cast will be involved in filming for the Strictly Come Dancing results show, to be broadcast Sunday evening on BBC1.
Despite supposedly being "beheaded" in the summer, Top Hat must have enough of a following to have been voted "Best Night Out" in the Evening Standard Awards!
