Yes, my "child of the 80's" and I know it's hard to believe but musicals were FUN then. Mama, there were two cars -white of course, which matched the totally white costuming of the cast (though I believe in London it could have been ice blue).

Two cars and ice blue...
And doesn't it all look beautiful. This is scanned from my parents' Souvenir Programme Lyrical Picture Book. They saw this on 01/08/75 and paid £4.30 for each ticket. Can anyone remember what the cars were like at the National? I had a seat high up and could only see the lower half of them, but what I could see looked like something Blue Peter would make from cardboard boxes.

Magic. It was white on Broadway and here in Australia. Our Desiree was actually Swedish, Taina Elg (who was runner up to Glynis johns for the Broadway production). Our Madame Armfeldt was Anna Russell.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about a possible recording of the current london cast, à la 2006 (was it 2006 or 2005?) recording of SITPWG? I'm not really hooked into the rumour mill, so was just wondering if anyone had some insight. Any would be appreciated.

Nothing at the moment but the production is very close to confirming a transfer in the spring. As with the transfer and recording of 'Sunday...' I would guess the recording of 'Music', if any, will come around after that. There will certainly be cast changes for the transfer.
Dame Judi Dench was crossing Shaftesbury Ave on her way to rehearsal and was almost run down by a speeding taxi, the taxi driver shouted to her out of the window, 'You stupid c**t!".
Dame Judi's fast reply- ''That's Dame C**t to you!'' |

I am sure that there is going to be a recording of this transfer production of Night Music when it reaches Broadway. I do think that they would want to record it considering the fact that it is going to star Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury.

I think there will be a recording too, as long as ALNM gets good reviews and a good box office.
