The Rose Announces Upcoming Shows, Begins With OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD

The-Rose-Theater-Announced-Feb--May-Productions-Including-THE-LADY-FROM-THE-SEA-Feb23-March-17-20010101

The Rose Theatre announces their upcoming productions, kicking off with:

OUR COUNTRY’S GOOD

Mon 30 Jan – Sat 4 Feb with Matinee and Evening performances.

Australia. 1788. A British ship arrives with a cargo of soldiers and convicts transported abroad for their country’s good. As the soldiers struggle to impose order on the outcasts of the old society, a benevolent governor seizes on the notion of a play. In the shadow of the gallows and the gum tree, the convicts gather under the direction of 2nd Lieutenant RalpH Clarke and rehearsals begin for The Recruiting Officer.

Based on real events, Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Olivier award-winning modern classic is an inspiring tale of the transforming power of theatre. With a cast that includes Aden Gilet and Philip Witchurch.

All tickets are £8 - £25 For tickets call the Box Office at 08444 821 556 (bkg fee) or visit http://www.rosetheatrekingston.org/visiting-productions/our-countrys-good (bkg fee).

Rose Plus Choir: My Happy Valentine

Sun 5 Feb at 7.30pm.

Rose Plus Choir's end of day concert. Up to 100 people have had a day to rehearse and perform a full public concert.

They don’t need to be able to read music or have singing experience, but they do need enthusiasm and stamina. It’s a challenging, exhausting day for the participants, but this concert will be something you never forget!

All tickets are £4 - £7. For tickets call the Box Office at 08444 821 556 (bkg fee) or visit http://www.rosetheatrekingston.org/rose-plus/my-happy-valentine (bkg fee).

DNA

Mon 6 Feb – Wed 8 Feb at 7pm on Mon & Tues, 7pm & 1.30pm on Wed.

DNA is written by Dennis Kelly, directed by Anthony Banks, and the cast includes James Alexandrou (EastEnders).

A group of teenagers do something bad, really bad, then panic and cover the whole thing up.

But when they find that the cover-up unites them and brings harmony to their otherwise fractious lives, where’s the incentive to put things right? First performed at The National Theatre in 2007, this startling new play is fast becoming a contemporary classic with young audiences.

All Tickets are £8 -£16. For tickets call the Box Office at 08444 821 556 (bkg fee) or visit http://www.rosetheatrekingston.org/visiting-productions/dna (bkg fee).

LOL (LOTS OF LOVE)

Fri 10 Feb at 7.30pm.

In an age of electronic communication this timely, critically-acclaimed production puts its six dancers on a quest for romance. Against a video wall of dozens of screen-gazing individuals, Protein’s cyber souls stylishly nail the language of life online.

Protein won the Best Independent Company Award at the Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards in London and was nominated for four arts industry awards in 2011 including Outstanding Achievement in Dance.

Recommended for ages 14 yrs +

All Tickets are £8 -£12. For tickets call the Box Office at 08444 821 556 (bkg fee) or visit http://www.rosetheatrekingston.org/visiting-productions/lol-lots-love (bkg fee).

Jeremy Hardy

Sat 11 Feb at 7.30pm.

Jeremy is perhaps best remembered as a much younger man, but there is nothing he can do about that now. Still alive, and able to speak unaided for lengthy periods, this show will be not so much a one-man show as an under-staffed cavalcade.

Jeremy Hardy became a stand-up comedian in January 1984.

His BBC Radio 4 work includes Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation, The News Quiz, I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clueand You’ll Have Had Your Tea. He has also done various bits of television, most notably, Now Something Else with Rory Bremner, Saturday Live, Blackadder Goes Forth, Loose Talk, Jack and Jeremy’s Real Lives with Jack Dee and If I Ruled the World with Graeme Garden and Clive Anderson.
