SimG Records is proud to announce the release of the studio cast recording of the latest musical from the pens of Olivier Award winning musical theatre creatives George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Soho Cinders, Betty Blue Eyes, Mary Poppins, Honk).
Based on the universally famous fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs is a short family-friendly musical which is the first in what Stiles and Drewe say will be a “trilogy of trios” (the companion piece shows will be Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Three Billy Goats Gruff).
With a score filled with trade-mark Stiles and Drewe tuneful melodies and crisp, witty lyrics, The Three Little Pigs was created for performance at the Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Little Company and played for 70 sell-out performances at their DBS Arts Centre in March 2012. It tells the story of its three eponymous heroes named after the writers’ three favourite barbecued pork dim sum (Cha, Siu and Bao) and their attempts to avoid being eaten by the Big Bad Wolf. After a spate of house building and much huffing and puffing, all of course ends happily ever after and along the way children of all ages from 3 to 93 can sit back and enjoy the delights of the show’s catchy score.
“We see it as a very little, great big Broadway show - designed to get your toes tapping, your cheers cheering and your pork scratching!” (George Stiles & Anthony Drewe)
For the recording, Stiles and Drewe have assembled a stellar cast: Alison Jiear (Jerry Springer The Opera, Grease) as the Piglets’ put-upon Mother who is “too old and too tough to eat” , Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe (The Fantasticks, Guys and Dolls) as the Big, Bad but Misunderstood Wolf, and Gareth Gates (Les Miserables, Joseph), Amy Lennox (Soho Cinders, Legally Blonde) and Lewis Barnshaw (You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Just So) as the three pigs. Musical arrangements and orchestrations are by Ruth Ling with music preparation by James Humphreys.
The show will be licensed for future productions. In the meantime, fans of Stiles and Drewe in particular and fans of fun musical theatre in general can enjoy the album - which consists of 14 tracks, two of which are Bonus Tracks (demos sung by the songwriters) exclusive to the physical CD that will not be available digitally when digital sales become available towards the end of the year.
The physical album will be available exclusively at Dress Circle and will be released on 25th June. All pre-orders will be signed by Stiles and Drewe. www.dresscircle.co.uk
