STAGE TUBE: Promo - Wilmington Theatre's OVERRULED, Coming to Old Red Lion, Jan 2013

Wilmington Theatre Company brings its debut production of OVERRULED to the Old Red Lion Theatre in January 2013. George Bernard Shaw's short comedies HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND, OVERRULED, and VILLAGE WOOING will be directed by Polina Kalinina (Assistant Director, The Seagull, Southwark Playhouse; Dutchman, Orange Tree). Wilmington Theatre was set up in 2012 by two LAMDA graduates, Lucy Hough and Leo Wyndham. The cast features Jasmine Hyde (Muswell Hill, The Orange Tree, Sam Walters; A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's Globe, Raz Shaw) and Jim Creighton (Desire Under the Elms, Lyric Hammersmith, Sean Holmes; Flare Path, The Tempest, Haymarket, Trevor Nunn).

In HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND, a wife has lost the poems written for her by her young admirer. Unfortunately they have fallen into her husband's hands- but his response is somewhat unexpected. In OVERRULED, two adulterous couples are caught in the act whilst on vacation, and forced to choose between their heads and their hearts; whilst in VILLAGE WOOING, the life of the man who writes the 'Marco Polo Series of Chatty Guidebooks' is changed forever after a chance encounter on a cruise ship.

Bernard Shaw reveled in writing extravagant short plays, often for a specific performance or event. Largely controversial at their time of writing, these unrestrained short plays show him at his most puckish and least polemic, and contain some of his funniest writing.

Director Polina Kalinina trained at the Orange Tree Theatre and LAMDA. Her recent credits include: Dutchman, Orange Tree Theatre; Punchcut, Etcetera Theatre; Asya, LAMDA. Her credits as an assistant director include: Russell Bolam (Anya Reiss' The Seagull at Southwark Playhouse), Joseph Blatchley (Hedda Gabler), David Grindley (Mill on the Floss).

OVERRULED performances run Tuesday - Saturday at 7.30pm; Monday 14th January at 3.00pm; Saturday matinees at 3.00pm; Sunday performances- 3pm. Press Night 4th January 7.30pm. Ticket prices: Preview Tickets (3rd & 4th Jan) £10; Standard Tickets (5th 19th Jan) £15 * Concessions £12.
