The 2010 EMMY and BAFTA award-winning BBC family favourite, Shaun the Sheep, will be making its stage debut in a brand-new LIVE production, SHAUN'S BIG SHOW, adapted by the 'National Children's Dramatist' David Wood, due to perform at Stoke-on-Trent's Regent Theatre from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 March 2011.

Shaun is stage-struck and has decided to put on a very special show for all his friends; there'll be some madcap mayhem ahead as they dance and prance their way through a series of adventures under the nose of the short-sighted Farmer.

Aardman's television series, Shaun the Sheep first appeared on BBC1 and CBBC in March 2007. Inspired by Nick Park's 1995 Academy Award-winning short film, A Close Shave, the series has been sold worldwide.

This new show will be presented on tour by Calibre Productions, who boast a successful repertoire of acclaimed stage adaptations including House of Ghosts: An Inspector Morse Murder Mystery, Porridge, Dad's Army and 'Allo 'Allo!

Producer Ed O'Driscoll comments: "Adapting a televised series for stage is a complex task and none perhaps more so than with Shaun the Sheep, where we are not merely adapting a sitcom but a silent animation. We have brought on-board a great team of talented individuals; dramatist David Wood, designer Susie Caulcutt and choreographer Bill Deamer, to bring the animation to life with a wonderful show which we hope will be enjoyed by all".

All the favourite characters from the hit series will feature in this wholly live show, including Bitzer, Shirley, Timmy and the rest of the flock in a fully choreographed music and dance extravaganza.

SHAUN'S BIG SHOW has been adapted especially for stage by David Wood, whose acclaimed catalogue of children's stage adaptations include, among others, Babe The Sheep-Pig, The BFG, The Witches, The Twits, James And The Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr Fox and Tom's Midnight Garden. This particular production marks David's first screened animation adaptation, adopting the premise of the televised series - being performed entirely without spoken narrative.

The main storyline features the Flock accidentally discovering the joys of dance, and Shaun being inspired, in true Mickey Rooney style, to put on his own show in the barn. The inspiration is provided by none other than The Farmer, who has been watching episodes of Strictly Come Dancing and decides to teach himself how to tango.

Aardman Ltd is a pioneer in the field of model stop-motion animation and possibly best-known for its feature-film creations Chicken Run, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Flushed Away, and has a stable of characters that include Morph, Wallace & Gromit, Creature Comforts, Timmy, Angry Kid, Rex the Runt and many more.

SHAUN'S BIG SHOW promises great all-round entertainment for the whole family, bringing the world's favourite sheep and all his friends to life in a show that combines all the wit and humour of its televised counterpart.
