Rowan Atkison Chooses QUARTERMAINE'S TERMS Over MR. BEAN

Rowan-Atkison-Chooses-QUARTERMAINES-TERMS-Over-Mr-Bean-20010101

Rowan Atkinson, famed actor and screen-writer, has found his fervor for stage acting again. According to Whats On Stage, he may leave his famed tv show, MR. Bean to do more stage acting. Currently he is preparing to take on Simon Gray's QUARTERMAINE'S TERMS, bound for West End, however he was not always keen on stage roles.

In an interview with Telegraph, he speaks of how his participation in THE SNEEZE (1998), a set of Chekhov works, proved to be motonous to him, as it was "not a case of reinviting the wheel as presenting the wheel again and again."

Yet, his role as Fagin in OLIVER! has renewed his desire for the stage and shown him the worth of theatre as a profession. Now he is ready to inhabit the role of Quartermaine, who in his words is optimistic and able to be sympathized for as "You don’t tend to feel much sympathy for pessimistic people but those who retain their optimism despite the sadness of their lives are interesting, engaging and sympathetic.” QUARTERMAINE'S TERMS will take place at the Wyndham's Theatre from 23 January to 13 April 2013. You may purchase tickets for QUARTERMAINE's TERMS here.

Rowan Atkinson came into prominence with the success of NOT THE NINE O'CLOCK NEWS, the BLACK ADDER series, which became one of BBC's most famous programs, and the noteworthy MR. Bean. He is known for his brand of physical comedy and has been compared to Buster Keaton. He has recorded two live comedy albums and is hailed as one of the best comedians in British comedy.
