Adam Spreadbury-Maher, Sam James and Matthew Gould for Good Night Out Presents the UK premiere of smash hit Broadway musical PINS and NEEDLES

The first ever musical to be presented at the c*ckTavern

Written by Harold Rome

Directed by Rachel Grunwald, Musical Direction by Joseph Finlay

PRESS NIGHT: 19 November at 7:30pm

Continuing its commitment to bring neglected works to London, Good Night Out Presents Pins and Needles by Harold Rome, the only Broadway hit musical ever performed by a labour union. Original production was supposed to run only at weekends, but soon actors quit their jobs, joined actor's equity and the musical became the longest running show until Oklahoma in 1945.

„Sing me a song with social significance,

All other lines are taboo..."

The original production was presented by The International Ladies Garment Workers Union which used the Princess Theatre in New York City as a meeting hall. Featuring a great score and witty satirical skits, the show spoofs everything from fascist dictators to industrial relations and advertising claims. Harold Rome and Barbara Streisand made a recording in 1962 and the musical was since then performed only once in 1978 off-Broadway.

The first ever musical at the c*ckTavern will be directed by an award winning and Olivier nominated director Rachel Grunwald. She previously directed Blood and Gifts by JT Rogers for The Great Game: Afghanistan at the Tricycle Theatre. She also worked at Soho Theatre, Almeida and for Royal Shakespeare Company. Joseph Finlay, musical director has had works performed by the Britten Sinfonia, the London Sinfonietta, members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Singers, and has had works programmed as part of the Cambridge Britten Festival and The Spitalfields Festival.
