Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer present the world premiere of TIMING by Alistair McGowan, to be directed by Tamara Harvey

Timing, a hugely funny first play by actor, writer and impressionist Alistair McGowan, exploring love, work and fatherhood and all the difficult decisions that men and women have to make together, opens at the King's Head on September 30 directed by Tamara Harvey.

When Julian Mann goes to work one morning, the last person he expects to find alongside him in the tiny room is his ex. And she's not just any ex. She's THE ex - the woman who captured his heart, the woman who shared his life for five years, the woman who walked out on him and who hasn't spoken to him since.....

Timing is a play for anyone who has ever tried to juggle a relationship and a career, for anyone who has ever heard the biological clock ticking - for anyone who has wanted to turn the clock back...

The cast for Timing is:

Edward Baker-Duly (Julian) whose recent theatre credits include Trevor Nunn's West End musical adaptation of Gone With The Wind, South Pacific (RNT), Rookery Nook (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Dick Barton (Nottingham Playhouse). Baker-Duly's television work includes playing no-nonsense sports master Chris Malachay in the long-running BBC school drama, Grange Hill, from 2003-2006. He recently completed filming Botched alongside Stephen Dorff.

Paul Bazely (Phil) is best known for his performance in Benidorm. His TV credits include: Making Out, Heartbeat, Doctors, Holby City, Vanity Fair, The IT Crowd and Footballers Wives.

Matt Cross (Preston) played Reecey in the musical Our House (Cambridge Theatre). Other theatre credits includes Simon Zealot in Jesus Christ Superstar (Really Useful Group) and Mungo Jerrie in Cats (New London Theatre).Television and film credits includes Colin McKinley in Doctors and Bruce in Casualty both for the BBC.

Louise Ford (Leonie) has recently appeared in All The Little Things We Crushed (Almeida Theatre) and will soon be filming My Almost Famous Family for BBC. Other theatre credits include the lead role of Natasha in the Shared Experience adaptation of War and Peace on tour and at Hampstead Theatre and Puntila And His Man Matti and Don Juan Comes Back From The War (Belgrade Coventry).

Dean Gaffney (Dino) trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. He is best known for his role as Robbie Jackson in BBC's Eastenders. As a boy Dean made his theatre debut appearing at the Queen's Theatre in London's West End in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. More recently he headlined a tour for Bill Kenwright of Unexpected Guest . He also had fun with Ricky Gervais in his series Extras and in Harry Hills TV Burp. Dean recently appeared in MI High.

Peter Hamilton Dyer (Wes) has appeared in Comfort Me With Apples (Hampstead Theatre), Who's The Daddy? (King's Head Theatre), George's Marvellous Medicine (Bolton Octagon Theatre), The Lifeblood(Edinburgh Festival), The Daughter in Law (Basingstoke Haymarket Theatre), Twelfth Night, King Lear, The Golden Ass (Shakespeare's Globe Theatre) and Macbeth (Nuffield Theatre & Tour).

Georgia Mackenzie's (Amanda) recent theatre credits include Big Love (Gate Theatre), Colder Than Here ( Soho Theatre) and The God Botherers (Bush Theatre).

Alistair McGowan is probably best known to British audiences for The Big Impression which was, for four years, one of BBC1's top-rating comedy programmes - winning numerous awards, including a BAFTA in 2003.

After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1989, Alistair began working as a stand-up comic and was soon a regular at London's Comedy Store. From 1992-1996, he provided the voices for many of the characters on Spitting Image as well as being a regular feature on Radio 4 comedy shows.

His theatre work includes: Kafka in Kafka's Dick and Clov in Endgame (Nottingham Playhouse), Art (Wyndham's) Khlestakov in The Government Inspector (Chichester), Ford in Merry Wives : The Musical (RSC) and The Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors (Duke of York's - for which he received an Olivier nomination), the title role in The Mikado (Carl Rosa), Vernon Gersh in They're Playing Our Song (Menier Chocolate Factory), The Duke in Thelma Holt's touring ‘Measure For Measure' (2009) and the Emcee in Rufus Norris' Cabaret (Lyric).

As an actor, on television, he played Spock in Tim Firth's Preston Front, Mr Kenge in Bleak House and the title role in the quirky detective show Mayo (co-writing several later episodes). He has hosted Have I Got News For You? and has been featured on the hugely popular Who Do You Think You Are?

He appears in the film My Life in Ruins opposite Nia Vardalos and Richard Dreyfuss which is being released in October 2009.

He has written A Matter of Life and Death with Ronni Ancona - an autobiographical comedy self-help book about football as an addiction, which will be released in October 2009.

A keen environmentalist, Alistair has never yet owned a car and is an ambassador for WWF-UK.

Tamara Harvey's recent work includes Resilience by Steve Waters (Bush Theatre, 2009), and Alan Ayckbourn's, Bedroom Farce (West Yorkshire Playhouse, 2009), both of which opened to wide critical acclaim. In 2008 Tamara directed the original production of Plague Over England at the Finborough Theatre, which subsequently transferred to the Duchess Theatre in 2009. Other West End productions include Whipping It Up (Ambassadors, 2007 from an original production by Terry Johnson) and co-director on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Gielgud Theatre 2005 & Garrick Theatre 2006). Tamara was one of the directors for the 24 Hour Plays at the Old Vic in 2007 and 2008. She is a co-director of The Factory's Hamlet and a Trustee of the Peggy Ramsay Foundation.

Set and Costume design is by Lucy Osborne, Lighting Design by Oliver Fenwick and sound by Emma Laxton.
