The Night of 1000 Voices, the annual, star-studded, event celebrating musical theatre at the Royal Albert Hall, will take place on Spring Bank Holiday Sunday 2 May 2010 and will fundraise for charity Leukaemia Research.

In 2010, this fabulous musical extravaganza will be a triple celebration: honouring the 80th birthday of Stephen Sondheim, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Leukaemia Research and marking the 10th year of this hugely popular evening.

From We Will Rock You to Jesus Christ Superstar, the evening will include performances from a host of West End and Broadway stars including Kerry Ellis (Wicked, Les Misérables), Olivier Award-winning Philip Quast (Les Misérables, La Cage Aux Folles) and Adam Pascal (Rent), accompanied by the City of London Philharmonic and the massed choirs of Sing Live UK and USA under the musical supervision of the West End maestro, David Firman.

Special guests who have previously performed in The Night of 1000 Voices include Michael Ball, Glenn Close, Michael Crawford, David Essex, James Galway, Joel Grey, Gloria Hunniford, Roger Moore, Elaine Paige, Tim Rice, Cliff Richard, Claire Sweeney and Riverdance.

Creator of The Night of 1000 Voices, Hugh Wooldridge, says: "This evening is a must for all who love musicals. You will hear the best performers in the world performing some of the greatest songs in the world's finest venue. Come and join in the fun and help raise funds for a splendid charity whilst raising the roof of the Royal Albert Hall."

The Night of 1000 Voices will fundraise for charity Leukaemia Research, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2010. Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Leukaemia Research, says: "We're thrilled to be part of The Night of 1000 Voices. Since 1960, Leukaemia Research has invested in world-class research and survival rates have increased dramatically for patients with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. However, there's still a long way to go and all money raised from the evening will help us get closer to a cure."

The Night of 1000 Voices takes place on Sunday 2 May 2010 at 8pm. Tickets start at £17.50 and are available from the Royal Albert Hall box office on 020 7589 8212 or by visiting www.royalalberthall.com.
