Michael Feinstein, 1 Night Only at the Palladium

On November 1, Michael Feinstein will make his London Palladium debut, appearing there for one night only. He will preview his concert-style show at the Radlett Centre in Hertfordshire on Oct. 29.

At the Palladium, Feinstein will be accompanied by a 17-piece Big Band to perform a repertoire that will include songs by Gershwin, Cole Porter and Sammy Cahn, amongst others.

The four-time Grammy nominee and Broadway performer is considered one of the premiere interpreters of Gershwin's music and the Great American Songbook. He is also nationally recognized for his commitment to the American popular song, both celebrating its art and preserving its legacy for the next generation. He is co-owner of New York's Feinstein's at the Loews Regency nightclub, where he regularly appears, and other artists have included Barbara Cook, Glen Campbell, Diahann Carroll and Dame Cleo Laine. The late Rosemary Clooney also performed there and it is in tribute to her - his "Beverly Hills Mom" as he called her - that he is performing at the London Palladium. When she sang there with Bing Crosby in 1977, she was given a plaque, which she passed onto Michael and he has always wanted to play there in memory of her.

Part of the proceeds from the London show will go towards the New End Theatre in Hampstead, whose artistic director Brian Daniels is producing these dates. In a press statement, Daniels said, "We are immensely grateful to Michael Feinstein for his support of The New End Theatre in its 35th anniversary year."

It is being reported that Feinstein will return to Broadway in February 2010 in a concert-style show. A Theater and opening date have yet to be announced.
