Michael Ball Confirms He'll Star As SWEENEY TODD

Michael Ball - about to begin touring as Edna Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY - has finally confirmed the rumours that he'll be starring as Sweeney Todd in Sondheim's classic musical next year.

Gossip has been circulating since last November that Ball would take the title role at the Chichester Festival, and he said as much to TV interviewer Jonathan Ross on his Friday Night chat show.

Imelda Staunton is being linked with the role of Mrs Lovett.
