Dorian Gray returns in 2009
Following the record breaking world premiere of Dorian Gray
at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2008, Matthew
Bourne's darkly seductive dance theatre event went on to
play to sell-out houses at Sadler's Wells last summer. This
mesmerising adaptation of Oscar Wilde's cautionary fable The
Picture of Dorian Gray, will now tour to regional venues
across the UK and play a further two week season at Sadler's
Wells as well as International Festivals in Italy and Russia
in 2009.

Cast details are announced
Much of the highly acclaimed original cast of the production
return including Richard Winsor as Dorian Gray, and Michela
Meazza as Lady H. They are joined by Jason Piper who takes
the role of Basil Hallward. Jason last worked with New
Adventures dancing The Swan in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake in
2005. Other cast members include: Ashley Bain, Joe
Colasanti, Jared Hageman, Dominic Lamb, Christopher Marney,
Dominic North, Joe Walkling and Chloe Wilkinson. Further
casting to be announced shortly.

New Adventures wins top Festival award
Dorian Gray was awarded the Edinburgh Festival Herald Angel
Award for Excellence at the 2008 Festival. More accolades
followed at the National Dance Awards, with New Adventures
nominated for Outstanding Company. Matthew Bourne was also
nominated in the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice
Awards 2008 in the Best Choreography category.

Dorian Gray - a contemporary fable
Set in the image-obsessed worlds of contemporary art and
politics, this "black fairy tale" tells the story of an
exceptionally alluring young man who makes a pact with the
devil. Amongst London's beautiful people, Dorian Gray is the
"It Boy" - an icon of beauty and truth in an increasingly
ugly world.

The themes behind Wilde's cautionary tale - the destructive
power of beauty; the blind pursuit of pleasure; the darkness
and corruption that lie beneath the charming facade - have
never been timelier.

New Adventures
Best known for his adaptations of classic stories, Swan
Lake, Nutcracker!, The Car Man and Edward Scissorhands.
Dorian Gray is Matthew Bourne's newest production. The show
reunites the team that created the double Olivier award-
winning hit Play Without Words: designer, Lez Brotherston,
composer, Terry Davies and lighting designer, Paule
Constable.

A Sadler's Wells Resident Company, New Adventures is the
foremost dance theatre company in the UK, having created an
enormous new audience for dance with some of the most
popular dance productions of the last decade. In 2008, three
New Adventures productions were performed; Nutcracker!
toured throughout the UK, Dorian Gray which became the most
successful dance production in the 62 year history of the
Edinburgh International Festival, made it's sell-out London
debut at Sadler's Wells and played limited dates across the
UK. Edward Scissorhands toured Australia (including a
season at The Sydney Opera House -the first British dance
company to ever play the iconic venue), France, Greece,
Belgium and the UK, with a seven week Christmas season at
Sadler's Wells. The production has now played 585
performances.
