Martin Richardson, Stewart Marquis and More Star in Sell a Door Theatre's PETER; Full Cast Announced!

David Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree for Sell a Door Theatre Company present PETER, a new play by Stacy Sobieski. Hutchinson and Rowntree have just announced the cast for the production. PETER opens at the LOST Theatre on the 23rd October and runs until the 10th November 2012.

The cast features Evelyn Campbell as Peggy/Jack, Mark Fountain as George, Helen Fullerton as Mary Hodgson, Jemma Hines as Sylvia, Tom Hudswell as Arthur, Stewart Marquis as J.M. Barrie, Martin Richardson as Peter and Stacy Sobieski as Mary Ansell.

Peter Llewelyn Davies was just an infant in his pram when he became the namesake for J.M. Barrie’s most famous creation, Peter Pan. With the play proving to be an immediate smash hit, the Davies family was thrown into the limelight, with a reluctant Peter Davies at the forefront. But what happened when "the boy who wouldn't grow up" tried to do just that?

Picking up where Finding Neverland left off, the action of the play follows Peter Davies from his carefree childhood to his troublesome adulthood. As the media relentlessly documents his every move, continuously labeling him as “the real Peter Pan,” Peter struggles to form an identity of his own. Soon, unable to separate himself from what he describes as “that terrible masterpiece,” he begins to spiral into a deep depression. As the walls come crashing down around him, Peter searches desperately for that elusive glimmer of hope which had once shown so brightly in his boyhood. Will he find it, or will he forever be the boy who couldn’t grow up?

Director David Hutchinson says: "Stacy has a unique approach to writing that I admire in its complexity and precision . She follows the Kneehigh and Shared Experience approach of heavily researching her work, so that every scene is embodied in truth as she narrates real peoples stories. Peter is dark and ironic, the boy that JM Barrie infamously based his Peter Pan on also struggled to grow up, and was further thwarted by the shadow of his fictional self."
