Lost Noel Coward Song to Premiere in MAKING DICKIE HAPPY, Opens March 5

The full cast has been announced for Jeremy Kingston's acclaimed comedy Making Dickie Happy at London's Tristan Bates Theatre. Playing the iconic role of the young Noel Coward is Phineas Pett (The God of Soho at Shakespeare's Globe and Cymbeline at the RSC), Helen Duff (Dead Pile at the Old Vic) as writer Agatha Christie, and James Phelips (Pericles at the Rose in Kingston) as Lord Louis 'Dickie' Mountbatten. The production is directed by Robert Gillespie and will run between 5 and 30 March

The production will also showcase a long neglected Noel Coward song Devon, ninety years since it was first written. Performed as part of Coward's first review in 1923, the lyrics to the song only appeared in print around 1931 with no records of the music being ever being
published. Through the endeavors of playwright Jeremy Kingston, who traced Coward's last accompanist, Peter Greenwell, the song is now being given a new lease of life in the production.

In a hotel on an Island just off the coast of Devon - guests spending the weekend include the young Noel Coward and his boyfriend, Tono; 'Dickie' Mountbatten and a naval chum, and Agatha Christie, mysteriously alone and using another name. An imagined meeting examines the relationships, marriages, engagements and promises of some of the greatest writers and socialites of the time.

Further casting for Making Dickie Happy includes David Alderman as Coward's boyfriend Tono, Matthew Alexander as J-Boy and Rob Pomfret a Cyril.
